People are trying to bring black friday over to Canada now, and TBH I think it's pretty dumb. I mean, it has a reputation for how stupid it is already, and while I don't think it reaches the level of insanity that happens elsewhere it must attract some people if they still do it. :\

Cyber Monday is way more worth it for me since I can actually survive and go through the day without an injury.

Man, I thought this Cyber Monday thing was some kind of inside running gag from Americans, but I`m starting to think its for real.
In that case, please introduce that to The Netherlands! (You can give us Black Friday as well, but you won`t find me anywhere near it, lol). I do a lot of online shopping so that would kick serious you-know-what.

I only know Black Friday from Southpark, it looks hilarious. I`d seriously rather pay full price then throw myself in a big mob of people and live by the mercy of the moving masses. But I`d kill for live feeds from the malls, for me to watch. :D

I don't think it's too bad, if you're struggling or broke it's really helpful ( got my 3ds xl last year for half price ). Some people I feel are a bit extreme with the whole black Friday which is now pushing into brown thursday.. I feel like brown thursday is just greed like let these people be at home with their families. I imagine the families of the shoppers wouldn't be too ecstatic if they had to work because some crazy shopper was trying to get a discount on insurance or some mess.

black friday demonstrates the worst excesses of capitalism, absolutely incomparable to the worst excesses of communism

No. I hate it. It's superficial. The only reason I participate in it is because it's becoming sort of a family tradition. But otherwise, I don't like it. It's terrible.

It's a good thing to have! ( well for extreme shoppers ) but yeah it is like the real life purge as some people die and get trampled Dx my parents are always too lazy to take me anywhere though hmph :(

I'm Australian and I probably don't know enough about it to have a proper opinion but it seems not worth it to me. I personally hate crowds and being squashed in with a lot of people so, for that reason alone I'd say no, it's not worth it, for me at least. It's also completely not acceptable for people to be killed or injured. No discount is worth that. Things like this make me glad I don't live in America.

Black Friday isn't much of a thing here in the UK, some places do have discounts but it's not nearly as extreme as in other places. It's more of just online shops that do the discounts, so I guess Cyber Monday is more popular than Black Friday. At least here there's less injuries, especially in the area where I live where there aren't really enough people to cause this level of commotion anyway.

I'm pretty sure it's not that big of a thing here in the UK. I've heard of it, but until like couple of years ago I didn't think it really existed outside of America (surprise surprise that I heard of this idiocy from America).

I really hope it's not gained popularity this year from the increased advertisement and awareness since I have to go and buy Smash on Friday (as well as a few other games). Whilst I'm kind of pleasantly pleased that it's landed on this particular Friday, a Friday I planned on spending money anyway so I get discounts on things I would have been buying anyway, I really can't be doing with any friggin' idiots trying to fight me for things. I'm not really a violent person but I think I would have to bop somebody on the nose if they started going crazy at me about a stupid 10% discount.

Where has all this even come from? Why is it a thing? Who's stupid idea was this? I would ask what country it comes from, but I think I know the answer...

OH YEA!!!

What the hell is Cyber Monday? It sounds like my kind of thing.

And the thing is, why isn't this illegal by now? I mean, they make things like plagerism illegal, which is understandable, but no body is getting hurt by that. But people dying for low prices? How is this not illegal!

I heard a man and his family were at black friday, and they were going to their car, so someone told them to give him the merchandise. The man said no, and the guy released a flame on him apparently. Setting a man on fire in front of his family? Wow, hope you enjoy that new thing you got that you killed a man over, bet you won't use it next year... and you killed someone for it.

Fighting for self defense against these maniacs? Ok, but burning a man in front of his wife and kids just for some cheap merchandise? No

No, for the most part it's just idiots running over other idiots for TVs, Consoles, & Computers. It is in no way worth it.

Besides, Cyber Monday is the way to go, you tend to get better deals than you would on Black Friday

It goes either way...You can get decent deals from stores all over the US. And can get deals from online sites on Cyber Monday =P. For me..I have everything that I possibly need so Black Friday isn't really necessary for me. For others...if you want to save money on things that you don't have or just to upgrade and get it for less. It's a go for you!

you guys are over exaggerating this lol

I agree with you, tbh. I feel bad for the workers who are being forced to work on the holiday and are threatened to be fired if they don't come in. Like that's really not fair to them, especially since a lot of stores are starting their sales on Thanksgiving. That is too much for me. Black Friday should still to being on Friday, not 6pm on Thanksgiving.

But I LOVE Black Friday. I've never had a bad experience with it. The only fighting I've ever witness was a quick race with another shopper to be ahead of them in a line. The only injury that would even be possible there would be if you managed to slip on an ice patch.

I mean, yea, if you've actually been out shopping on Black Friday before and witnessed or were in a fight with someone over an item, that would be the worst and I probably would never want to go out on Black Friday after that, but don't the holiday based on someone else's experiences.

because one thing hurts capitalism, the other thing helps it

take a guess which is which

are you seriously comparing somebody dying due to an unfortunate accident in the workplace to someone dying due to human greed and stupidity?

I don't mind it but I'm in Canada so it's not quite as crazy here. And there's just not enough people in my city anyways to cause that kind of pandemonium. I won't be going on Friday because I'm busy, but my friend and I are going early tomorrow morning to go to a store that's starting early. Otherwise the sales here all last until the 1st, so I'll probably try to go in Saturday and check out a few places. Mostly I just need new wiper blades for my Dad and some DVD's for myself and my mother.

I might benefit Friday. Dont know if GAME in-store have a bllack Friday sale :-)

Uhm... what is black Friday?

Black Friday is the Friday following Thanksgiving in the US. It's mainly used for Christmas shopping/buying things with huge widespread deals. Almost always there's some form of violence and you can see them on YouTube or on the news usually a day after =P
