What I mean is, is it more likely to see some items at different times of the year than others? I was just wondering, since there are some items that I either hardly ever see, or have never seen before. I know that some items are rarer than others anyway, but there are some items that aren't particularly rare that I never see in my T&T emporium.

A few items can appear seasonally, like holiday series, but other than that, no. Gracies is seasonal though.

A couple items are seasonal(jingle, spooky, harvest), but I don't think it's normal items. HOWEVER, I DO know that you have more songs sold in shop the higher the shop tier.

Yeah, I figured the holiday-related items are seasonal, and Gracie items too. I just thought it was sort of strange how some of the regular items seem to show up almost every day in my store, while others are nowhere to be found :P

The regular items at T&T (not including Gracie) aren't seasonal with the exception of a few series and random items (like the Harvest series in November, the Jingle series in December, and assorted holiday items like the Festive Trees in December as well).

I completely understand what you mean, though. I hit the same wall in the winter where it seemed like nothing new was ever for sale. I remember reading somewhere that every town has a set group of items where you have furniture that is common to your town and furniture that is rare to your town, but each town has a different group with different items. So even if you see stuff from the Green series everyday, other mayor in another town can have the most difficult time finding those pieces in the shop. I'm not sure if this has ever been confirmed, though.

If you want to get those items without trading/buying them on the forums, I'd recommend completing your villager's favors! I've found that if you do more difficult favors like the petition or do favors "well" (as in giving them Perfect Fruit, rarer fish/bugs, etc.), they tend to give out either Spotlight items or items that specifically aren't in your catalog (furniture only, clothing doesn't seem to work). Also, if villagers visit your house randomly, they are almost always guaranteed to give you something that isn't in your catalog.

I'm pretty sure items that are related to other country holidays can only be purchased when that holiday is happening. (If I recall correctly, there was a buyable Japanese item in nooks for a holiday, but some other people also got it in their Nooks.)

That's actually what I was originally going to ask! I don't know if it's been confirmed either, but it sure seems that way.

A quick Google search shows that apparently groups were almost definitely a thing back in Wild World (it was mentioned in both Japanese and English guides of the game), but it's unconfirmed for both City Folk and New Leaf, although I'm going to assume that it's still a thing. It makes sense.

Oh, and I forgot. Item luck may also have a chance of getting new items in the store/from your villagers, but it's still going to take lots of time and patience to complete the catalog either way. Also, I believe that there are items that aren't available in certain versions of the game, so no matter what, they'll never appear in the store/be given by villagers.
