Since they break now, do you think they're really worth the gold nugget you need to use on them? I think most are double/triple the previous level's durability. I personally don't know if I'll be making them too often given how difficult gold nuggets are to come by and are needed for several other golden recipes. What are your thoughts?

i honestly don't think it is worth it, i crafted a gold slingshot and my sister gave me the gold watering can so i could get nook miles from it, then it only lasted me a few days
plus it only takes a couple of materials to craft the tools so i prefer to just save the gold nuggets for crafting furniture

Might be worth selling to people who really want 'em but the fact that they break at all makes them functionally worthless for how rare gold can be. If breakable gold tools were going to be worthwhile, the durability would need to be super high. Think the Hylian Shield from BotW- It does break eventually and is expensive to replace at 3k Rupees, but it lasts so long and is strong enough to be well worth it every time. Doubling or tripling the normal item health for our tools is pretty useless since they already break way too quickly with no way of knowing when (unless you painstakingly count every single use of it). I love the crafting system but I hate that gold tools break. There's plenty of things to craft besides tools so this was completely unnecessary. So no, they're not worth it unless you have a lot of gold.

Absolutely not. I don't intend to make the golden tools even if I get the recipes. Why waste them when who knows how long it'll take me to get a golden nugget to replace the broken ones? The golden tools being breakable is a perfect example of bad choices in game design. Don't bother crafting them. Save your gold nuggets for other projects that require them.
Looks like we're all on the same page. I honestly didn't like how in New leaf if you traded for a gold set you never had to think about tools again. While I'm in favor of the concept of having to craft again, they should've either made gold easier to find or upped the durability

Ive got a gold fishing rod and I love it, I craft a fishing rod maybe once every 2 days and the gold watering can has a way bigger radius when watering it gets more flowers in my opinion. Im all for the gold tools even if they do break its way less frequent
To be honest it’s something we can aim towards in time, the durability is 100 more than the standard ones so although it’s disappointing that they break, it’ll last a lot longer than the ones we have at the minute. It’s another goal to keep us entertained I guess.

Gold nuggets are such rare spawns. I feel like you're better off saving them to craft actual golden items that you might use to decorate your town or house.
I might craft gold tools if I ever feel like I have a huge excess of gold nuggets, but that's not happening anytime soon.

Not worth. Apart from the watering can they all just last longer—they've lost their special abilities from the previous games.
It's more worth it to have regular tools since there are plenty of materials for them; the golden nuggets are pretty rare (I only have 10 since playing from launch, granted I don't go on many island tours).

I'm gonna be crafting them all eventually just for the achievement you get, but that's it. I won't be making anymore because right now they're not worth it at all.
I like the gold watering can just because it waters more at one time. Still though. If you plan on crafting a decent amount of furniture with gold nuggets, it probably won't be worth it. Might as well use them on something that will last

The only golden tool I have is the slingshot...and I want to tell myself it's worth it, but, it probably isn't. I keep telling myself that it seems like balloons are spawning more regularly, or maybe carrying better/new items that I don't have yet...but, I doubt any of that is more than coincidence. If the golden slingshot only provides more shots before breaking, then it's not really "worth it" at all.
i don’t think they’re worth it. i’ve only obtained the golden slingshot diy so far but the fact that they also break makes them completely useless to me. while their durability may be a bit better than the iron tools, them breaking is highly upsetting to me because what exactly is the point of them, then?
