Anyone Ever Been Scammed on TBT?

I've never been actually scammed by anyone from TBT, but I try to trade cautiously when there's a lot at stake. I try and keep trades quick and simple, so there's less chance of something going wrong. I've given out a bad rating or two, as well, when I felt the person deserved it.

It doesn't happen often here, and blacklisting people here is against the rules as well if you do ever get scammed.

I'd suggest taking a look at reddit.com/r/animalcrossing and checking their blacklist there... and comparing FCs to people you run into here when doing a trade just to be on the safe side.

Besides this, everyone should also beware when during trade, if notice anything odd just flick the switch~ even with buying and selling villager, if they request to save before they do payment or so, just say no and ask them to pay first (if they already got the villager) or else flick the switch~

Never been scammed on AC, happily! Both on reddit and here, though I've only done two reddit trades.

I do know SOME scammers on this site, but they've already quieted back down. I haven't seen them in a while. And they weren't super bad horrendous scammers, either, more of just *******s. So I'm happy to report that I have yet to encounter a truly mean person and hope to keep it that way ^~^

And, my heart goes out to those that have been scammed ):

I've been scammed on here a few times, actually. :( Last summer, back before this forum introduced the WiFi Rating feature and the Villager Trading Plaza.

I used to trade villagers a lot while I was trying to get my dreamies, and I had quite a few people who would pick up villagers from me, but then they would never give me their villager in return.

Thankfully, this hasn't happened again, not since they added WiFi Rating and the specific trading area.

I've also had a few incidents recently where I've had my gate open to trade with someone, and a different person on my friends list would come into my town randomly and start taking stuff. Thankfully (again), it's easy to just flip the wifi switch and put an end to it. :P

I've never been scammed around here, and hope it'll never happen. I have seen someone on Tumblr tell a story, but I don't remember it much.

I have never been scammed on here, not even during a villager trade when I gave the other person my villager first. Most people on here are pretty nice. Just flick the wifi switch if you feel that something is odd.

I haven't been scammed yet. I do always take note of the wi-fi rating and would not trade with people who have several negative reviews. I'm also wary of people with no wi-fi rating who have only joined and seem especially eager to get a villager.

I've yet to be scammed since joining here last year.. though I used to do all my trading through gamefaqs and wasn't ever scammed there either(musta been getting damn lucky)

i got scammed out of fauna on tumblr :/ but i think it's better here what with the wifi-ratings so you can do a lil' background check beforehand!!

I've had users promise me villagers, and then disappear... but I guess that's not scamming per se. Nowadays I just try to trade with people with high wifi ratings whenever I can c:

Not here and not scammed per se; but I had a few people whom I helped from other sites running around yoloswagging when they shouldn't have. >>

I saw a fake giveaway for attention. That person now has I think a -3 rating.

Nope!

Someone gave me a bad rating because of a Pokemon trade, but I didn't do anything wrong -.-

I gave out a bad rating to someone, and that person retaliated by not only giving me one back but also trying to stick it to me further with additional comments that were accusations and implications. Reading it more than once, for a full understanding of the person's context, it revealed he/she didn't have a thorough understanding of "Animal Crossing: New Leaf." But it does explain why I don't have a 100-percent Wi-Fi Rating. That person isn't lately active. And, by the way, this didn't have anything to do with trading. It was me playing host to people, including that individual, who were in my original town of Applewin for a visit. (Tour the town. Say "hi" to the villagers. Go to the island. Etc.) All others who have visited have never been a problem; they weren't given a "negative" rating by me; and no one else has given a "negative" rating to me. Generally, I've found that Bell Tree Forums Members are here because they sincerely appreciate the game; they want to continue enjoying the game; and they know that they will succeed with continuing their pleasure of playing the game because they're experienced, are enthusiastic, and they are realistic and understanding.
