Amiibo?

What is the point of amiibo in this game? Do you get items like new leaf?

For Amiibo villager cards, you can invite them to your campsite and craft them 3 separate items during separate visits. Then you will be given the option to have them live on your island. You can also scan them in at Harvey's island for Photopia and buy posters of those villagers from the Nook Stop in Resident Services. For Amiibo NPC figurines and cards, you scan them at Harvey's island for Photopia and also buy posters of them.

I've been using my amiibos even not trying to get them to move, just so that I can get some extra DIYs!
