Am the only one who likes updates instead of having everything at once?

no, you don’t...that’s just for traveling to other islands...no where does it state in updates that you need a NSO membership to use them
I am 5BILLION% with you hahaha!! I played New Leaf for nearly 4 YEARS as a result of this! I think it says so much about the value of AC games when they keep rolling out updates like the campsite in New Leaf after so long, etc <3 I really really love it. I'd much MUCH rather a game (and EXTRA a game like AC) be well-maintained and updated than just barraged in content right away then ditched.

I don't mind subsequent updates. Like everyone said, it keeps the game fresh.

I'm actually not that big of a fan of it. Locking things behind updates isn't really that nice in my opinion, especially when those kinds of things are much more suited to (and much more commonplace in) mobile apps with microtransactions.

The update thing is mostly fine for me, but June has been pretty darn boring for me. The wedding event was only fun for the first few days, then it became a tedious repetitive chore to get everything else. The only other event that has happened is the Bug Off. Bug Off was fun but meh...
I don't know if I'm finally getting burnt out or what, but I really hope these coming updates are more substantial, with more interesting stuff to do or at least more items to collect.

I am with you on this.
I have been playing the Reese-and-Cyrus Wedding Game, with two humans, to generate enough crystal hearts to buy at least one piece of each type of wedding furniture. That is, in addition to what has been already given. I have not made any purchases. I started toward the middle of the month. (I obviously was not anxious.) And I have somewhere around 220 combined crystal hearts.
I look forward to being done with that.
I actually really like the updates. I feel that if everything was introduced at first, I would get burnout very quickly or bored. Having these updates is what’s keeping me playing without having that feeling that everything is complete (even though my island is far from it lol). Plus they’re free, so I have no complain about that!

I personally enjoy updates more, keeps me thirsty for content and in turn keeps me playing the game. it’s a win-win. i think? idk i should be sleeping and i’m hella sleep deprived

I like having new things to look forward to that I haven't already seen online! I am trying not to look at pictures of the game in autumn and winter so that I have some things I'm surprised by, but it's hard. I went to a SH island the other day to catalogue and I couldn't really keep my eyes closed for that. 
I didn't play the previous games though, so I don't feel like the game is incomplete, and I have already had far more hours gameplay out of it than many other games.

that would makes things 10x more fun I think, even though I didn’t play NL. I’ve seen plenty of gameplay videos though and it seems like tons of fun!!

Past games had the benefit of less social media and SPOILERS.
With events and NPC's being patched in as the game goes, Everyones on "The same page" in what content is available.
Wether you TT or not, theres only so much you can do untill a patch drops.
I also love the EXCITMENT when a preview is given for new content and everybody loses their minds over some tiny detail they spotted in the trailer, and are excited for new stuff!

I think there's a good chance that more people will appreciate it a couple years down the line when they realise that the game is still very much part of the conversation because of the support it will have gotten, which hopefully will indeed add lots of new elements and not just bring everything back from New Leaf.
