It's weird and that makes it stand out for me. Not so much because I like it that much, but because overall the hourly music reuses the main theme far too much and I crave variety.
i think the 3am music's pretty funny lol. i usually only stay up to 12am-2am and so any time past 2am it gets harder to keep my eyes open. when i hear the 3am music it's like the game's laughing at me or im tripping out from lack of sleep. i dont rly notice the music all too much in a game, but this song definitely sticks out
I honestly am too old and never stay up late enough to hear the 3am music, so I just listened to it on Youtube. I gotta say it's funky. I like it more than the 5pm music though!! Maybe it's because it's newer to me, but I love the "wah wah" of the horn in this song. It reminds me kinda of older Animal Crossing music from previous games.
tbh now I gotta listen to the other stuff I miss when I'm sleeping.
I heard it for the first time yesterday! Lol i had a nightmare that woke me, so i snuck my game under the covers and turned the volume down so as not to wake my husband and at first the music startled me! I'm like, what's that?! Who's talking?! my personal fav is the 8am rockin music that really gets me going. I won't be hearing that when i get called back to work
I heard it a few times around launch, and again last night, and it really sound like it's scolding you for being up playing AC that late. Especially that trombone! Shame on you, whomp whomp!
Because of my work schedule I have a hard time staying up past 10pm. I was determined last night though, at 9pm we took a drive halfway across the state and back. Drank Starbucks, blasted weird Lady Gaga megamixes, wasted an entire tank of gas, etc. Just to hear this song, because I refused to look it up on Youtube and I wanted to hear it in a natural, sleep deprived state.
Finally we are back home at 2:30am.
2:59am rolls around, my heart is racing.
The bells chime and there's silence, then: WAAAAAAAAAHHHHH
I couldn't hear any of the rest of the song because of my boyfriend's hysterical laughing.
3am is weird and easily the worst song in this game but staying up to hear it was a fun experience. We plan on doing it again next weekend to see the aliens at 3:33am on Saturday morning.
3am is definitely my favorite along side 5pm. It's very reminiscent of GC's soundtrack. Really wish we had more wacky music like that during the afternoons (c'mon, use cat meows as instruments again you cowards).
It's not creepy. I call it the bug's song cos it feels like that, like they are telling, it's 3 am and we're out and about. It's a funny music, how can it be creepy
I really like the 3am music XD in fact, it might be my favorite haha. I also like the music that plays after the 3am one in the mornings.
For music I do not like in the game, I am not too fond of the afternoon music. It always makes me feel sleepy. I don't know how to describe it but it feels...kind of lifeless? Like mundane music that just plays to fill in the silence?? I don't know
I love it. I think this song is by far the most interesting one of all twenty-four hourly songs in the game. The wee-hours-of-the-night songs have always been a bit unusual in the Animal Crossing series, but this one is noteworthy even among the other odd songs. The 3:00AM music in New Horizons is very clearly channeling the energy of Animal Crossing's composer, Kazumi Totaka, from his early days of writing video game music. This song has elements of the "Graveyard" theme from Super Mario Land 2, with sporadic, quirky bursts of different instruments, as well as a rhythmic shaker underneath it all that's extremely reminiscent of the title screen music from Mario Paint, both of which he composed back in the 90's. Totaka's sense of humor comes through very clearly throughout the entire 3:00AM song, whether he wrote it himself, or whether someone else under his supervision wrote it for this game, purposely capturing that particular flavor of whimsical strangeness that Totaka is famous for.
