So everyday, I check the forum and what do I see - more people reporting MORE glitches!
Every time I boot up my game when a new day starts, my heart skips a beat because I'm terrified I'll go visit one of my favorite villagers and get the dreaded "Moved out" glitch.
This is all making me super stressed to the point that it's affecting my enjoyment of playing.
I'm not sure what to do at this point - I even thought of taking a break for a few days to wait for a patch to come out (when is that even going to happen? Have Nintendo been acknowledging all the glitches?)... but then, during this time, I also NEED this game badly as it's pretty much one of the few things keeping me sane (I've been in self-isolation for over a month, and, where I live, we can't even go out for walks or leave the house unless it's a major emergency - it's a total lockdown).
Sorry if this is a bit of a rant.
I was just wondering - is there anyone out there who has been playing since launch, trades villagers regularly and experienced 0 glitches?

I’ve received a few villagers and not had any glitch, nor have I heard of any glitches from the few I‘ve given away. I suppose I got lucky 😅
I can totally understand why it’s stressful!

I have been playing New Horizons since launch and have gotten Merengue, Goldie and Flurry from trading on TBT, and got Cookie from trading with a friend after they held her for me when I won an auction here. I haven't experienced any glitches, but the only villager I TT'd for was for getting Cookie from my friend.

It is worrying seeing all the glitch posts here though! But I don't expect to be trading for villagers anytime soon since I'd rather wait for my villagers to ping naturally.

Something good to keep in mind is that just because there are a few threads about glitches doesn't meant everybody is experiencing them.

For every thread somebody has made because they got unlucky and experienced a glitch, there must be hundreds of other players who haven't. It just looks like there are more people with glitches because they're the ones talking about it and making threads, people who don't get the glitches have no need to create any threads. Hope that thought helps :)

i haven't had any issues so far! i think it mostly involves use of amiibos so make sure the ppl you trade with aren't trading you a villager they got through amiibos :]

About two weeks ago I adopted little Bangle from someone. When I went to their island there was Bangle all packed up in boxes. I knocked on the door, walked right in, talked to her a few times until the option to invite her popped up, then I invited her. I did not walk out her house then went back in to re-invite her. I've read reports of people doing this and the villager asks to move in twice or three times. I only invited her once. I thanked the host for allowing me to adopt the tropical tiger, took my leave, and when I returned to my humble island I went straight away to see if the empty plot I had opened for Bangle was bought by Bangle.

It was bought by Bangle.

And ever since that fateful day she has been walking about my island without a care in the world. I do check her sign and it does not say "I've moved out" and so far, she hasn't glitched out on me. She was a natural move out. I believe she was the host's very first mandatory peppy villager.

I dislike having to read all these reports on the glitch. It really upsets me that peoples' fun time is being dampened by this, and all that stress and paranoia caused. I don't want anyone to have to go through this horrible glitch. If you go adopt a villager, it can be risky just like I took the risk for Bangle. Nintendo needs to address this ASAP.

EDIT: Let me just add that I firmly believe the void has something to do with this glitch. I think the game is trying to read or find the data for a certain villager and somehow the coding gets all screwed up in the process.

Haven't experienced the glitch yet! And fortunately the glitch can be resolved by TT-ing day by day. But if I were you, I would refuse to buy a villager from someone that is not willing to give you back the money if their villager turns out glitched.

The only villagers I know for certain that came from another island is Camofrog. He wasn't in boxes when I talked to him at someone's island, nor had him asked to leave. He moved to my island as the 7th resident. I had two empty plots, went to a mystery island and invited Marcie. I was very tired and didn't want to make another trip to find someone to buy the other plot, so I turned my switch off, and went to bed. The next day, I saw that Camofrog had bought the plot that was available.

I still haven't had any glitches. However, as Tex moved out yesterday, and I just invited Marina (also via Mystery island, as I don't own any amiibo), I don't know what to expect in terms of possible glitches, honestly.

I don't intend on buying any more villagers TBH - I only wanted Zucker. I got such a good offer on him and the trader was super lovely.
I have cards for some of my favorites that I will invite later on and I'll try my luck with others through Island hopping.
But I'm still super worried about my Zucker.

I did; however, plan to sell/trade some of my villagers down the line but would also hate to give anyone glitches.
I also had to void one villager (Rowan) when adopting Zucker as no one claimed to adopt him, so now I'm super paranoid I may have also glitched someone's town accidentally (even though Rowan was my starter jock) since I did do some item trading.

I guess this is all just getting to me BIG time right now. :(

To be honest, I'm super terrified of TT'ing and that would also potentially cause losing the villager I mostly care about.
I only TT'd one day ahead when I had to adopt Zucker as Rowan was in boxes and no one was able to adopt him from me.

Its worrying seeing all the people posting about the glitch but remember you're likely seeing a ton of people with the glitch but multiply that number by 100 and you have the people who havent experienced the glitch.

People who experience the glitch are more likely to report it while people who havent experienced it are more likely to not talk about it as there is nothing wrong with their game. They may not even know there's a glitch!

I know it's scary but theres a very small percentage it can actually happen to you. As long as you dont trade villagers and dont visit islands with villagers in the void, you'll be okay. I've forced out two villagers so far and havent had any problems.

I disagree with this a lot.

It isnt the sellers fault that the villager has glitched. There are PSAs on the boards, and people frequently reporting it here. If you buy a villager KNOWING the glitch exists you are putting YOURSELF at risk. The seller did their part by selling you the villager. They arent required to refund you whatsoever.

It sucks but its wrong to essentially put the blame on the seller when the buyer is aware of the risks of villager trading atm.

I agree - it's definitely not the seller's fault.
I guess the whole thing is just very disheartening - by looking at the forums it seems like about 80% of the people are experiencing this glitch, but you're very right in saying that it's likely a much lower number. People on here are just very vocal about it - which, of course, is in their right and I just hope this gets patched quickly so we can continue trading without fear.
