ACNL amiibo and RV stuff

I just updated my game last night and saw all of this RV and amiibo stuff. Could someone explain to me what this is? Is it only for a limited time?

It's all part of the amiibo update. It's a permanent thing. You can use amiibo figures (compatible ones) and card in the game to invite villagers to move in or NPC's to visit your campsite so you can order their furniture. There is 4 new villagers you can get from Zelda amiibos - Ganon, Wolf Link, Medli and Epona and 3 splatoon villagers which are Inkwell, Cece and Viche (Callie and Marie).
There is also 50 new returning villagers which you can now move in if you have their amiibo card and 6 Sanrio villagers.
The update breaks the 16 villager cycle in the sense that if you lose a villager but have their amiibo card you can scan it and move them right back in. You can also better control where villagers plot as they won't plot on patterns anymore (unless they have nowhere else to go). Probably missed some things but that's the major points I think

Thank you! This is awesome! I was wondering when they'd make a new animal crossing but I guess with this update they dont need to.
