It seems people were so used to TT'ing their way through New Leaf and unlocking everything within the first few months that waiting for updates is beyond them.i also didn't expect people to be complaining this much, but i also didn't expect that the game to be somewhat incomplete compared to previous installments that would have us wanting more. that's why this is such a hot topic and people are impatient. nothing is even certain as to what's coming.
but yes, y'all should be patient. if all goes south they can always release a monstrous "welcome amiibo"-ish update in a few years. no way they will just drop this game lol.
Which probably why this game is set up this way,, Nintendo probably wants people to play the game properly not you know run up the clock and get a bunch stuff quick,, it takes the point of hard work and patience out of the game. Though i'm guilty of tting only to move villagers out.It seems people were so used to TT'ing their way through New Leaf and unlocking everything within the first few months that waiting for updates is beyond them.
It might be missing some features but it has a lot of features that NL lacked as well.New Horizons is missing so many features that New Leaf had, when you actually sit back and think about the features from bugs making noises to the missing furniture sets and stores there isn’t muck to do. My town is currently done up the way I like and I feel most people are also content on their town so now there isn’t anything left to do.

I just think people simply got spoiled with having everything in the game thus people hate the new update system. Hello NL was way back in 2012 games weren't being updated like that. It's 2020 now it's easier and better to update games that's how you keep people gripped. It also brings money as well. I feel in NL once you finished every renovation everything was complete and there's nothing left to do except play mini games on tourimers island but I didn't play those much. Nintendo is good about being consistent. They don't change their models. This game isn't really lacking it's just people belief that it is because we have a new update system. I mean that's like saying Pokemon Sword n Shield is lacking features because they didn't add something from another game. That makes no sense!! Oh plus actually Nintendo is also working on Pokemon with their update! So again Nintendo is consistent. People just got spoiled. It might be missing some features but it has a lot of features that NL lacked as well.
Even in New Leaf, it took a long time to unlock everything unless you were TT'ing heavily and one could argue that once you unlocked the stores, etc. there was essentially nothing to do.
The only big update we ever got was the Welcome Amiibo one which was kind of added towards the end of the game's lifespan anyway.

That's the thing.
I, for one, like the fact that there are some events people just can't TT to because it builds up the anticipation.
I also like the fact that some events can't essentially be spoiled by those who heavily TT.
In New Leaf, I felt that once I joined forums such as TBT, everything was at an arm's reach. I could basically read up on everything the game had to offer. With the way the game works now, it gives me something to look forward to and the anticipation of something "new" that I wouldn't have yet seen.
That's my point precisely. The update system works in the game's favor in my opinion - it keeps it from going stale quickly.I just think people simply got spoiled with having everything in the game thus people hate the new update system. 2012 Nintendo had to make money by makin games n selling them but now it's 2020 games are more expensive but people will be willing to wait for updates all games or most are like that nowadays. Besides how would a Dream Suit even work on an island? I get a cafe but Dream Suite? I just don't see it happening. I think I used it maybe once for Aika town but, tbh I see more youtubers using it for content and even that lacked. I would like Brewster back but maybe chane it to be more tropical not stuffy and coffee like. Like why would I even want coffee on my tropical getaway? That's more of city/town thing. I don't think this game is incomplete it's just being updated like anything else in 2020. It's a new model people just need to accept we don't live in old 2012 times,,That's my point precisely. I mean once you unlocked everything in NL you were basically done.
I get that there were some features like the Dream Suite and the Island games but let's be real - were people constantly browsing towns via the Dream Suite?
And don't get me wrong - I obviously do want some of these features too but I just find it silly how SO many people keep complaining about this game being "incomplete".
While I agree and think of it much in the way you do, as a non-TTer enjoying the pace (and frankly not missing blowing 200 bells to watch a pigeon serve my character coffee all that much), there's this video I saw once where the guy posited the theory that basically Nintendo wants/expects people to play their games a certain way, and if you don't fit that mold the game is designed to be not as fun for you. That can be playing the game differently by choice (TTing) or something a player has no choice over (not being able to afford a second Switch/island so having to share one with your family and only player 1 gets to do most of the stuff). I gotta respect the fact not everyone thinks it's fun to play games the way I do or think they should be played. That's my point precisely. I feel like the people who complain about NH are usually the ones going against the grain and trying to play the game how it shouldn't be played. I mean I get it Nintendo had set up this game in a way it can be fun without having to break it yet, people still complain. And agai tbh why would I want a bird to serve me hot coffee when i'm on an island that is hot mostly 80% of the time. It's like going to Hawaii and expecting hot starbucks,, like I much rather have a cold lemonade. Mayb i'm just weird and didn't care for Brewster like that. I think it might have something to do with culture, and the philosophy Nintendo brings to making games. I remember hearing about an interview where I think it was Splatoon devs basically saying they decide how the game should be experienced. Obviously that clashes with a lot of people's beliefs that games should be made according to what the players want above anything else
Imo nostalgia is 90% of Brewster's appeal. Tying him to gyroids and being able to work for him in NL gave him a little more substance in terms of utility, but otherwise, like, you could totally have ignored him in WW/CF, and except for the satisfaction of earning his friendship and getting to drink his coffee with "pigeon milk" it wouldn't have affected your gameplay at all. I just- Brewster fits the nl town aesthetic very nicely. I never played anything before new leaf (I was very young when those other games were dropped,,) but for NH I just..it just doesn't fit. If Nintendo adds it I'll go with it if not I won't miss it. I much rather see fireworks SWIMMING (we live on a god dang island WHY CANT I SWIIIIIIMMMM-) and glow bopper head bands and glow wands come back. Small cute stuff. I love glowy type items,, I feel swimming will be added due to missing fish and achievements,, I just want summery stuff not a freaking bird serving me coffee. I live close to Starbucks I can walk to it and get real coffee.Imo nostalgia is 90% of Brewster's appeal. I hear ya. I think maybe on some islands that people are treating more like towns or cities (like mine) the coffee shop still makes sense if you put it in the right spot, but for the tropical island theme you're right, we need more like a smoothie bar and probably not even a pigeon serving them. Personally I was even thinking it would be cool to have an NPC with like a tea house, for those with Japanese-inspired islands or who prefer tea to coffee, and then you could have the option of which one you wanted on your island. That's genius idea,, I was thinking like a tropical vista or something,, you're idea was better,,I hear ya.
