You can repeat subjects, that's alright.

The least prepared species (often the intruder to the habitat generally) could either choose to try and challenge the territory's current owner (which is rarely successful unless the owner is ill or aged), seek an alternate location, or exhibit resource partitioning (this is often the case when the two predators are of different species).

If the intruder is of the other gender and the current owner is male, there may be a harem that the female will ultimately join.
