hello. my name is vega and I'm trying to be brave enough to post online again. I'm an off-grid gamer, so the 3ds was a huge thing for me in my teenhood with no wifi, I have a deep fondness for consoles and games that can be obtained and played entirely offline, through physical disc and no downloads.
I will be playing videogames for the next 50 years I expect, and probably the same ones. I have over 10k hours in new leaf before my original 3ds got stolen. I love amiga and DOS games >_<"" I have written a slightly larger text about what games I like on my page.

there are other people im seeing post on these forums that are outwardly autistic and aromantic. I'm sure this is a good space to socialise. I've never felt secure or confident on a website due to online dangers and opinions (I really dislike people trying to change my mind when it doesn't really matter.)

-some nice facts about me-
+ I made a videogame when I was 8 years old
+ I live on a rainforest reserve
+ the videogames I grew up with were (winPC) Humongous Entertainment. DOOM and half life, and a bunch of Amiga titles like monkey island, settlers, megalomania and james pond.
+ I have lived more in a shed than in a regular house and prefer to stay in my pillow fort
+ my art ability is painting, pencil + ink manga style illustration, sketching, digital illustration, animation and music. my favourite subject to paint is ice. light, shadow, colour and transparency.
+ I knit. a lot. I do a wide variety of wool and fibre craft.

personal detail: I use they/them pronouns if needed but prefer to not be addressed with pronouns. I have autism and ptsd and I love talking about myself and interests. I hope to contribute to the forums by writing engaging questions and thought exercises with fun prompts.

Hi there, and welcome to the forums. I hope you enjoy it here. I migrated away from social media for similar reasons but mostly due to how it was negatively affecting my mental health. This forum has a very nice community. I hope in time you find this to be a comforting place to be. I'm looking forward to seeing you around.

Hellooo Vega, welcome to the forums! We’re so happy to have you here! ☺️ I hope TBT becomes a place for you where you feel safe and comfortable enough to express yourself and talk about your interests! 💗

You made a video game when you were 8?! That’s so awesome! I’d love to hear about it if you ever feel comfortable sharing! I could barely figure out how to play video games when I was 8, let alone create one myself haha, so that’s super impressive to me!

It’s cool that you’re into art and knitting! Again, if you ever feel comfortable enough to and are interested, we have a subforum here called The Museum where members of the community can share their artistic creations! All kinds of art are accepted, from digital/traditional drawings, music, knitted and/or crocheted creations, etc! We’d love to see any of your creations if you’re ever willing!

I will keep it brief- it was a point and click game made in Adventure Game Studio with music in MadTracker2. I had an adult help me so I haven't been able to replicate the process yet.
I was born at just the right time to be using WindowXP as a toddler, but I never evolved along with the tech as we took our tech into the bush and didn't come out. I only recently got actual wifi out here.

Welcome to the forums, Vega! ✨

I would love to see your art if you're ever interested in sharing it online! The Museum section that Xara mentioned has always been one of my favourite forum sections to browse. 😊

What have been some things you've knitted most recently? I've only just picked up crocheting, but it's been really enjoyable, and I'm looking forward to seeing what variety of things I can make!

Lastly, do you have any all-time favourite games?

Hope you enjoy it here! 😊

(I hope that's an appropriate way to quote posts, I haven't really used forums before)

I'm hoping to give art tutoring classes this year because a lot of my art is therapy focused, but I've done 10 years of learning how to illustrate so that is how I'll end up "sharing it".

Last year I spent more time spinning wool than knitting. People give me fur from their animals and I sort it, brush it, fluff it up and spin it with a big wooden wheel. Knitting is more maths-based than spinning, spinning just takes a lot of focus and patience and careful hands.

I lose track of how many games "Are my favourite" I love every game, they're all magic to me and as long as it's offline and interesting, I will have a fun time with it. Games and books were always a safe thing for me (aside from scary games! hah!) I love horror games as an art-form and like to play them with the windows bright and open and sitting far from the screen without headphones 😅 I used to think the headcrabs were going to get me in real life.

I think I have to give the winner ribbon to the elder scrolls. I play a lot of obscure games but elder scrolls became a really large outlet for my creativity when I was younger. I wrote a book for it. It's the only big fantasy world I engage with aside from star trek and doom. I love huge stories and detailed worlds but it's hard to keep up with new things!

I might over-do the formatting on my posts but I find it important to separate what I'm reading and writing, I like to be thorough.

What was your impression of Metal Gear on Famicom? The MSX version is the better one, of course. 😏

I wouldn't know, I played metal gear solid 2 on a facility playstation2
Ahh, my apologies. Your profile mentions Metal Gear and you mentioned old PC gaming. I assumed you knew a little more about the Metal Gear series. 😅 MGS2 is good though. I liked messing around with the camera during codec calls. 😎👉👉

I'm a bit of a dope when it comes to the advanced technical stuff with computers, but I like what I like- if I played a game somewhere in the past or read a certain book, and really enjoyed it, I'll carry it around with me. so I have this big lump of similar styles and time-periods. There is an impossible amount of videogames and movies and books so I usually stick to what I like.

@Chris I actively play animal crossing new leaf 3ds, I used to do trading over tumblr many years ago but didn't hang out with the community much. I like to provide conversation or fun thought activities to online communities and really value the chance to communicate with people.

I've had my eyes on this forum since a friend mentioned it was actually quite active, and forum posting format is far more natural to me than text limits or super large websites. Most of the internet is too big and populated for me to feel comfortable in.

my plan for my animal crossing new leaf cartridge is to "100%" it. obtain every item, display it all in order within the player houses and museum. then have a billion bells in the bank. catching golden stags is like, a stim toy to me. I play every night to catch beetles an hour before bed.

Welcome. Welcome to City 17. You have chosen, or been chosen, to relocate to one of our finest remaining urban centers.

(You mentioned Half-Life. I had to.)

for my in-game new leaf collection I want to display every colour and type of flower, every furniture set and special item. have all other items in the storages and check them all off a big list. I'm doing it as much as I can for myself. if I want to play animal crossing I work on my collection and daily tasks. I have nearly all of my favourite villagers. Isabelle comes with me out of the house on my keys :^]

Welcome to TBT! I am autistic as well and have been here for over 10 years. Glad that you chose to frequent TBT. This place is really a safe haven compared to most of the rest of the internet. I hope you enjoy it here. 💚

I'm wondering if anyone can inform me how to share music to the museum board, can users embed music file links?

@Midoriya thank you, I have been debating about stepping onto a forum for my hobbies. I'm very particular about my environment I like to have fun and make stuff. twt and insta were exhausting, everyone is so wound up. So I end up spending long stretches of time alone, which is not good for motivation. I try to be positive and kind.

You're welcome! The good thing about TBT is not everyone here still actively plays Animal Crossing every day, even though it is the main topic of the forum. There's plenty of people like me and others who just like to share what game we're playing, what anime we may be watching, etc. in the off-topic sections.

Yeah, Twitter, Instagram, and social media in general can be really draining, so I understand. I've never used social media that much and can't say I'm really interested in doing so.

As for your question about the museum board, I think it depends on the type of file you're trying to link. Is it coming from YouTube, Spotify, or some other place? I don't know a ton about that, so someone else here would be able to help more, but knowing the type of file would definitely help.

here is me and my best friend outside in the snow.

usually I embed an mp3 file onto a plain web page so it loops and can be downloaded.
I make lullaby style dream-synth-ambient but I'm unsure how to share it without publishing it too broadly. I'd like people to be able to download it to put in their walking playlist.

I go for a big walk every morning at 6am and I like having fun relaxing music so I make my own. my few mates like my tracks and I've been considering putting a small album together just for the fun of it. I may be able to host it through youtube easiest.

Ah, I see! Yeah, there should definitely be a way to embed mp3 files here, I just can't remember how for the life of me. I'm sure someone else can answer more directly and thoroughly. If not, however, there's always YouTube.

I think it's wonderful that you make your own music like that though.
