Do villagers keep their remodeled homes after they leave?

Let's say I remodel a villager's house and they move to someone else's island. Will they keep their redone house, or will it revert back to default after they go?

I'm pretty sure it reverts back to the default. I've gotten a villager that used to be on someone else's island before, and the house didn't look like it had been remodeled.

Aw, thats disappointing. Was hoping to remodel a house for a friend since she doesnt have the dlc, so Ill let her know. Thanks for letting me know.
