Here are some vital tips whether you are just starting out or are worrying that you may have missed a tip or two for effective gameplay.
Most of these you can learn from Hazel of Hazelnuttygames` 15minute Youtube-video with the same title, - I watched that video before I even started playing ACNH it is So Helpful and has basically no spoilers at all. Perfect for beginners!

Rock-hitting trick: Dig two holes diagonally in a corner by the rock you are hitting. You place your character with his/her back to it, and when you are hitting the rock the holes prevent backlash, so you get all 8 materials/bells from the rock. Fencing or other items behind you also prevent backlash.

Belltree: In the glowing spot found every day on your island you can bury up to 10K bells and get 3x your investment back guaranteed. Any over that investment, and you might just get 3x 10K bells bags, or you might get the number you buried triplevalued. There is a gamble, in other words.

Selling Crafted Items: Any item you craft will sell for 2x the material value. Iron nuggets is the highest value common material and is worth 375 bells - save these up for a hot item with lots of iron nuggets in it, craft a lot of that item and get 4x more bells per iron nugget used in the item! Some shells are also very valuable, especially giant clams and conches.
(! - Exceptions to double the value crafting an item is wallpapers and floorings. Also, fruit furniture sells for 1.5 times the normal fruit value).

Selling Fruit & Veggies:
Your native fruit sells for 100 bells, while non-native fruits sell for 500 bells at your store. The only exception is coconuts, selling for 250bells each. Making a big orchard with non-native fruits is a good idea.
Veggies/Crops sell for 350 bells directly, with only a small increase in value when used in cooking, so it`s just as well to sell them directly.

Selling Bugs & Fish:
Flick and C.J. will start visiting your island when you get the upgraded RS building, - and they will pay 1.5 times the value of bugs and fish respectively. Save up all your high-value creatures for a big profit!

Balloon Spawnings:
A balloon will spawn every 5 minutes and make its way across your island. Figure out what time yours spawn by running up and down your beach - the next one will come (Almost Always) 5 minutes later. The wind shifts once per day and is one direction in the morning, one in the evening. (Shifts around 7AM and 7PM I think).

Tree-Shaking Round
Every day, in your non-fruit trees (pine and hardwood trees), the following will spawn: 5x wasps, 10x coins, 2x furniture items. Make sure you have enough trees - and not too many - to do the treeshaking round each day!

Catching Wasps
Equip a net before shaking a pine or hardwood tree, always. Stand directly in front of the tree. Shake the tree, do NOT move the stick, and mash A. Guaranteed catch for a 2500 bell profit for each wasp at NC.

Customising Tools Resets Them
Each proper tool has a limited number of uses before they break, about 30x for nets/fishing rods and 100x for axes. Instead of having them break and craft new ones, you can customise them to a different color and use them as a new tool, - catch 30 more bugs with the same net, f.ex.

Talk To Sable At Able Sisters
Remember to talk to the shy hedgehog sister Sable, every day - she really warms up to you and will give you lots of different pattern designs to customise your furniture with.

Villagers Crafting
When you log in, a villager on your island will be inside their house crafting, and they will do so for 3 hours. If you are still playing or log in after 3 hours, a different villager will be crafting something else, again for 3 hours.

Villager Gifts
A few days in you will be able to give your villagers a gift each day. Higher value gifts will give more friendship points, and if you wrap it with wrapping paper bought at NC it gives an additional point.
Simple, no-work ideas are to give a wrapped non-native fruit or giant clam as both have a sell price of 500bells. (There are guides online to great clothing gifts to each villager where the style and favorite color of the villager is determined, so check those out to have some fun dressing up your villagers in their favorite clothing!)

Are there any things you wish you`d known when you`d started out with ACNH? :)
