Is it possible to create a second character, save up Nook Miles, buy Nook Miles Tickets, leave them on the ground, delete the character, and pick them up to use with your main one?

I don't see a reason why this wouldn't work... deleting a character deletes their existence but not the items they dropped, miles ticket are tradable so they aren't tied to a single player, your second character should get a normal nookphone as well.

Why though? Earning miles isn't faster in new characters...is it?

Well, I don't have a second character, so I can't speak for whether or not it actually is easier, but it's far easier to earn Nook Miles in the beginning than it is as you progress. I felt that on my first couple of days, I was earning Nook Miles every 5 minutes...now, a week+ into the game, you still get them, but not as often. I can imagine that as the days and months go on, earning Nook Miles is going to become increasingly more sporadic/hard. I never thought of creating a second character...I may try the idea for myself!

1. Yep, totally easier to collect NMs with a new character. You get them for just existing for the first few days, considering everything is new. Thanks to that, almost every single thing you do gets you starter NMs.

2. Doing this would also allow you to get more NMs per day than just waiting, or having to TT for more doable tasks.

As for the question, to be safe, drop them, pick them up and then delete the extra character(s) made. Maybe make multiple to do this before deleting each time so you can get the most out of it and save time simultaneously.

In the beginning you get a lot of easy NookMiles, I'm surprised no one else thought of grinding them yet.

I doubt that its no one thought of it. People probably just didnt think to share or are just doing it on their own. I've definitely had the idea but I couldn't be bothered making a new character and having a random house on my island.

Yeah, personally I'm most surprised that the mile ticket is an item you can actually drop on the ground.

fun fact: you don't even need to put a house for them down. I made a second character and I was thinking of trying this, and I never put a house down for her, I just saved and quit the game after making her.

Omgosh, really? I might actually try this then! Thanks for the heads up :D

Well, as soon as I get Usagi all settled in, Ami, Rei, Mako, and Minako will follow. I should get a free ticket for each upon entering day 2, and should be able to pick up 2 each before I get to the plots.

Also, question. Does you island rep have to be the one to invite them, or can others invite them?

Others can invite. My husband invited someone without asking me :(
