Hi! With some people I was discussing about romance in fiction vs reality and some, found very "manly" (because a guy in that example) and romantic a person saying to another "you are mine, I won't let you go!". Personally, in real life, I find that a bit creepy (especially in my own language) but I know that it's very romantic for other persons (whatever the gender and orientation). What about you? Do you like it or not? Do you think it's linked to cultural differences, generations or personal tastes? I would like to hear about your opinion. Thanks.
The context: The persons are not dating (yet). One hold the other tightly by the shoulders or arms, kissed them forcefully and told them they are theirs and they won't let anybody else have them, or won't let them go (not in a literal way)
Like I said in a comment, in fiction like shoujo or drama we often see the guy (in that example) saying that to the girl he was ignoring from the beginning because he thinks she will date another person.
But you can think of any context, in what context you like it and when you don't.
I also wonder why the person declaring says "you' re mine" and it's not the opposite "I'm yours"
