Are you a little monster?

A few months ago, there was a thread about Taylor Swift, so I thought I’d make one about my favorite modern pop star, Lady Gaga.

I’ve been a little monster since 2008. I’ve always enjoyed her music. “Bad Romance” had a chokehold on me all through middle and high school, and even now a bit. Others faves include “Telephone”, “Alejandro”, “Money Honey”, “911”, “Paparazzi”, “LoveGame,” “Poker Face” and “Born This Way.”

I love her Mayhem album, too. All of it! Loved hearing “Abracadabra” at the Drag Race finale. Personally, I wasn’t a fan of the “A Star is Born” stuff, but the rest of her music has stayed pretty solid. She looked GORGEOUS in “House of Gucci”, but I haven’t seen all of it. And of course, her Brazil concert record was pretty cool.

(Btw, her fiancé Michael is a snack! Lucky lady!)

I don’t really get the comparisons with Madonna. I mean— they are similar, in ways, with Catholic imagery, be-yourself messages, but their music sounds different from each other. Like, I know they’re both pop…but different kinds of pop, you know? (I like them both— no shade to Madonna.)

I was always positively indifferent to her and her music for the longest time, but I really love Mayhem! I think seeing all the Abracadabra hype got me interested, and the day the album came out, I had a flight so I just listened to it the whole time. My favorites are Vanish Into You and Zombieboy.

I haven’t seen any discussions on this, but I can see some similarities in terms of them as stars. They’re both genre- and generation-defining icons. They seem to have similar audiences, too! Just think about how many of their songs have been on drag race! I can’t speak to their music, but they don’t seem to have similar aesthetics. So I guess it just depends how they’re being compared!

To answer your question, I looooooove GaGa! My favorite song of hers is Speechless. She wrote it about her dad who was battling

and that song just perfectly embodies that experience I feel.

Also, she is very flamboyant and out there much like myself. Her support of lgbtq people has been unbelievable and so inspirational.

She has such an insane work ethic that I admire much like Taylor in that regard. I also love her role in the fashion world. She is bold and makes statements and I’m sat for it.

I like a few songs like Bad Romance and Just Dance but I wouldn't call myself a fan. I'm not really a fan of any singer/band at the moment. I like a song or maybe more from certain artists but I am never invested in them.

I feel like I don't hear about her much anymore. At least not amidst the new wave of pop singers.

Then again as I get a bit older and more into my 20's I've began to already know which music that I enjoy. It's less often that I listen to pop on the radio.

She released an album in March (Mayhem) and recently broke the record for the largest concert. (2 million at her free one in Brazil). She’s been more active recently, but yeah…sadly, a lot of her stuff gets buried by the “new” pop stars.
To me Lady Gaga will stand the test of time.

Also, a Twitter user pointed this out…but I love how she uses bright colors when she’s sad and dark colors when she’s happy. Some of us are soothed by darker colors.

i especially like the fame because it transports me back to when i was 15 when i first started listening to her music.
