i made another one for smash bros. for 3DS/WiiU. Possibly the most complicated challenge I've made, and it uses real cards, but it's still pretty fun and I'll try to share it with you. I'll try to be updating this with each and every rule and stuff, because it's really long, and I might even talk about additional stuff you could add or variants of the challenge. But, oh my god, it is so complicated that I'm not sure how to simplify it, so here you go
Victory Road Challenge
(There's probably another challenge named like this but who cares we ball)
Basically, imagine inverse All star mode (you play as all the characters) in the fighter selection screen order, with tarot-like cards and the one rival mechanic in Playstation All Stars Battle Royale.
So first, Let me talk about the setup. You need 30 cards, and these ones SPECIFICALLY:
- 7 Blue
- 5 Yellow
- 3 Red
- 6 Gray
- 6 Brown
- 3 Purple
These will be elaborated on later, and as for the ruleset:
5 Stock
Customization On*
Handicap Off
Damage Ratio 1x
Choose the stage
All items
No time limit
No team attack
Pause function on
no score display
Damage gauge on
SD penalty -2
No random stage selection stuff (random wont be used in this challenge)
*You can't use the customized fighters you made beforehand!
These rules are for every Smash battle you will play. Don't change them!
Finally, to finish setting this up, you need to decide a difficulty for yourself:
- Easy mode is for those who aren't that confident in their ability to play Super Smash Bros., with the CPU levels being 1, 2 & 3 (the three CPU levels for each of them will be elaborated later as we talk about the cards.)
- Medium is for people who have a lot of knowledge about smash bros, and love to play it a lot. The CPU levels are 4, 5 & 6.
- Hard is for people who are confident in fighting against any kind of CPU, no matter the level. The levels are all 7, 8 and 9.
And now, the setup is finished. You are all ready to battle! However, you can't just play as all the characters right now, because before you can do that, you need to pass the Entry Test.
The Entry Test
The entry test is simple: a battle on the Battlefield stage with all three Random CPUs on the lowest level, depending on your difficulty. (For example: LV 1 on Easy, LV 4 on Medium, and LV 7 on Hard.) The fighter you play as here must be a Mii fighter. You can pick any Mii fighter in the entry test, but i suggest a Mii based on yourself (you don't have to though, you can play as Peter griffin for this dont worry

).
Your main objective for this: Get 1st. If you get 2nd or any place lower, you fail the entry test. Don't worry, though - you can always keep on trying! Once you complete the entry test, you now enter the NEXT part of the challenge.
The Main Challenge
Here's the main loop of the challenge:
- Move to the next fighter* (in the order of the fighter select screen. Example: Mario -> Luigi -> Peach -> ... -> Sonic**)
- Shuffle the deck of cards.
- Draw 1 card.
- Customization card actions (if drawn)
- CPU Level change (Depending on the Battle Card)
- Change the P2 slot CPU to rival (if specific character on red/yellow card)
- Pick the stage
- Battle
- Win (and repeat the process until you get to Sonic*) OR Lose (Will be talking about that later)
*After the entry test, you start as Mario. This doesn't mean you skip Mario, though.
**If you would also like to use DLC characters, then the last one would be either Corrin or Bayonetta.
Cards
So, remember the colored cards I told you to grab? Yeah, those are important. These basically determine what happens to the battle of the current character you're about to play. Let's group them into 2 groups: Battle cards and Customization Cards.
Battle cards
These cards start your battle immediately with the conditions they add.
- Blue Cards start your battle with your CPUs at the lowest level, depending on your difficulty. Let's call this group of difficulty "Blue level".
- Yellow Cards start the battle with your CPUs at "yellow level" (Lv 2, 5, & 8 depending on the difficulty).
- Red Cards make your battle hard, making the CPUs at "Red level", or the highest CPU level of your difficulty (Lv 3, 6 & 9 depending on the difficulty).
Customization Cards
These cards are what the Customization thing is for. They basically customize your fighter's equipment and special moves. If you do what the card makes you do, or you can't do what the card makes you do (example: all equipment slots are either empty or full, or you did not unlock special moves or equipment for that character) then you must draw another card.
- Gray cards make you add one piece of equipment to the topmost empty slot of your equipment screen. (Example, if slot 1 is empty, that must be the first equipment slot to have that new piece of equipment.)
- Purple cards (sorry bell tree on tablet sucks and wont let me change this text color now) REMOVE one piece of equipment from the topmost filled slot.
- Brown cards (i wouldve used orange but again, tbt doesnt like me on my tablet i guess) make you change ONE special move. Doesn't matter what special move as long as it has another special move unlocked for it.
And those are all the cards. They were all made specifically for the random feel to it. You never know if you'll get a new piece of equipment, or some really tough opponents!
Stages and battles
The stage you select must correspond to the fighter you are playing as in terms of their franchise. For example, if you are playing as Mario, the stage has to be Mario stages like 3D Land or Golden Plains, if you're playing as Marth, then...I hope you like playing on Arena Ferox for, like... 3 times in a row.
There are exceptions to this rule. For example, fighters without stages (Like R.O.B, or Wii Fit Trainer [on 3DS]) can play on stages without fighters! (Example: Find Mii, Tomodachi Life, Living Room, Balloon Fight, etc.)
As for battles, you're going to mostly fight against 3 random CPUs, and the main condition for you to progress is to get 1st in the battle. However...
Rivals
(Yes, I did take this gimmick from Playstation All Stars Battle royale, and yes, I have never played it. My only reason of knowing it is that I watched Chazington and it sounds like a pretty cool smash clone.)
If you're on a specific fighter (example: bowser) and you draw either a yellow or red card, the CPU on the P2 slot will always be that fighter's rival! (Example: Mario) The condition to win in a rival battle is by getting a place higher than your rival*.
*If you're fighting on blue level (drew a blue card), or there is a second rival fighter, they do not count as a rival.
Losing a Battle (Life system & Game Overs)
If you lose a battle, then you lose a life. Then, you have two choices. you can either:
- a) Try again (This choice has you play as your fighter again. They must be reset to default, and you will have to draw a card again.)
- b) Give up (This means that you lose the challenge.)
If you lose all three of your lives (A.K.A: losing a third battle), then it's immediately Game Over, and you lose the challenge. After losing the challenge, you have to delete all of the customized fighters you have made specifically for the challenge. Before you do, you ARE allowed to take photos of your progress in the challenge, or type it all down, to show your friends.
Keep in mind: THERE ARE NO WAYS TO GET YOUR LIVES BACK. You lose a life, it's gone for good. And do note that the final battle and entry test do not use the life system.
Laps
If you do manage to win in every battle as each character, however, you will have two choices:
- Start the final battle.
- Start over and go through Victory Road again for another lap!
Starting over doesn't reset all your fighters to default. In fact - starting over actually will help you in the final battle by getting more and more equipment and new special moves! The risk to this, is that going for another lap does not bring back any lives, so you NEED to win all those battles again in order to go for the final battle.
The Final Battle
The last part of the challenge that - in order to complete it - must be played. You can always keep going for more laps, but if you don't go through the final challenge, then the challenge hasn't finished.
Keep in mind: You can't use your cards when picking the final battle!
To start the final challenge, you must pick any fighter. You can also pick any Mii fighter you have, but keep in mind that all the Mii fighters collectively count as 1 fighter, so you may only play as 1 mii fighter.
The stage is Final Destination, and the 3 Random CPUs' levels are beyond the hardest difficulty (Hard still has to be Lv. 9 because there is no Lv. 10). On Easy, the CPU Levels are Lv. 4 and on Medium, the CPU Levels are Lv. 7. Picking a character with a rival will pit you up into a duel with that rival 2 LVs above red level on Easy & Medium (LVs 5 & 8).
Nevertheless, your main condition for both battles is simple: Get 1st in the battle. Basically, win.
If you lose the battle, the CPUs do not change (still has to be either random or the rival you lost to for the entire final battle), but now you cannot play as the fighter you lost as, so now you must pick another fighter. If you manage to lose as every fighter, you lose the challenge.
I don't really need to tell you what happens after you win the final battle, you basically win the whole entire challenge! The reward? Uhh... bragging rights, let's go with that. Send photos to your friends of every fighter's customization slots you've played as, and stuff, gloat how you made a challenge made by some dude in high school, I dunno.
Anyways
Rival List
I forgot to send the list of rivals anyway
This is the list of rivals. Not every fighter has a rival, so don't be mad that Olimar doesn't have one.
(These lists were taken from my little journal, where I wrote them down holding my pencil the "normal way". Still feels so weird

)
Vanilla game Fighters:
| Mario | Bowser |
| Peach | Zelda |
| Yoshi | Bowser Jr. |
| Rosalina | Palutena |
| Wario | Dedede |
| Mr. Game & Watch | Pac-Man |
| Donkey Kong | Little Mac |
| Link | Ganondorf |
| Samus | Fox |
| Zero Suit Samus | Captain Falcon |
| Pit | Dark Pit |
| Kirby | Jigglypuff |
| Meta Knight | Lucina |
| Falco | Sonic |
| Pikachu | Charizard |
| Lucario | Greninja |
| R.O.B | Mega Man |
| Wii Fit Trainer | Dr. Mario |
DLC Fighters:
| Mewtwo | Lucas |
| Cloud | Bayonetta |
| Corrin | Roy |
That's about it. I might talk about some additional things I want to make up for this, like an extra 30 cards with stuff like stadium games, extra lives, and damage handicaps. I also wanna make some for multiplayer (Made more for local, though) like Co-op or a competition variant, maybe one where you can play as your Mii (one made specifically for the challenge, meaning it will get customized through the game), and have a CPU buddy as all the fighters (also being customized). Maybe even a Smash Ultimate version of the challenge with the customization cards being Spirit cards!
Told you this is really complicated.
