I'm curious to know you guys' opinion on this idea. What if we could actually set visitor rules for our town that would physically stop visiting players from doing certain things, like running/picking up objects/cutting down trees? Would you guys use this feature or do you think it would come with its own set of problems?

Sounds like a good suggestion. Probably needs more specifics, but I could see this being manageable.

This is something I have wanted for a while. I'm sure Nintendo is aware that people destroying towns is a huge issue, so they should really do something about it. It would make trading so much easier as I'm always slightly anxious when I open my gates, especially to people I have not played with before. Perhaps have an option to exempt players you trust from these rules. That way you can still trade with strangers, yet will not have to restrict your friends. I do not believe it would bring its own set of problems. If you disagree with someone's rules, you can simply leave. At the end of the day it's their town, and they can do what they want.

Ooh I like your exemption suggestion Silver. I think it would make sense if the set rules for the town could be viewed before you go there or something, or maybe display in the loading screen. It'd just be a case of maybe if you tried to chop down a tree you'd get an 'Oops, better not do that!'

Unfortunately I actually don't see this being a thing that Nintendo will actually give us in the next installment right off the bat as I actually haven't seen anyone mention it before, although maybe in a future update it could come up if it had enough demand.
