Would you spend real money to obtain your dream villager?

Honestly, if they weren't incredibly overpriced I would consider it but with some of them going for $50+ I'd rather spend money on a real life rotten turnip.

I was going to buy Peanuts card but on amazon but it’s around 28 dollars. Sorry but no lol

edit: never mind she’s 34.97 now lmao

With how many people willing to help on FB, Tumblr and here it is unnecessary to spend money on villagers. I don't think poorly of people who do it. Some people want it right now, and that's how I felt about getting Pietro in my town. I spent 100 NMT for Pietro and Ankha because I wanted them right away. That is the closest I have come to spending money on a villager.

I'm about to turn New Leaf back on to see if I can get my favorites in the old game. It's more challenging there in my opinion.

i'd only buy amiibo cards in packs if the prices went down because nintendo released more cards. i have almost no doubt that they will eventually release cards for the new villagers. best case scenario they reprint the rest as well or they update the cards as like a special new horizons wave with all the villagers and new horizons special npcs. that way, we'd have easy to find official renders of all the villagers plus the amiibo cards would be more accessable - nintendo would be insane not to be thinking about rereleasing at least the previous waves. they'd make bank with the success of the game, plus people like me who like to collect cards and such. however, i would never pay high prices for a single amiibo card or a villager adoption because that's just kind of ridiculous. the amiibo cards have the added element of collecting them, which is the selling point for me since you can get all the villagers in game with the only price being your time and effort.

I bought a TON trying to complete my collection. I still have a bunch of doubles. I am saving em for trading. After corona. I was gonna go to a convention and see if anyone there wanted to be AC buds and trade lol.

Besides the massive coin I dropped on packs, no. I wouldn't pay that much for a single villager.

I actually consider to buy custom/fake amiibo cards/coins on Aliexpress or Etsy if I don't find some of my absolute dreamies in game (Hi Zucker), and just to test how amiibo works I think I'll definitely have at least one in the future.
But I find real amiibo cards to be overpriced so no I will not spend over a few $ to have a character.

In the end I find it more rewarding and fun to obtain my dreamies in game if I can !
And you can stumble across villagers you didn't knew that they'll become dreamies of yours, so I try to stay open minded concerning the characters.

no, not really. i would only pack for the standard amiibo packs, but i can't imagine myself paying over ten dollars for one specific amiibo

I spent $100 on a box with 18 six packs of cards (back when you could get them for that cheap. Now they're almost $400 on amazon) just to get an Ankha card. Now I'm considering selling the second Ankha card I got from the box to recoup my investment.

nah i dont fancy the idea of spending money over pixels that i could otherwise get for free or via igb/nmt
also, luckily my dreamie is unpopular and usually given away lol

If the cards were reasonably priced, I would have bought a bunch, sure, but they aren't, so I didn't.

If you want amiibos either make your own or buy them cheap off Etsy or something.

Also if you have a Samsung phone, you don't even need NFC stickers/tags as the phone itself can act like an amiibo with the proper files/apps.

I considered buying amiibo cards for my dreamies back when the welcome amiibo update came out for new leaf :'0 but i was a Fool
now I'm not too keen on buying amiibos,, or getting dreamies even. I kinda like having random villagers lol

I do like the idea of homemade amiibos tho! lowkey wanna make some for myself for fun, not so much for obtaining dreamies ahaha :')

I actually just put $18-$19 on custom cards of characters that I’m interested in having in my town and I’m thinking of getting at least one more but after that I’ll have all the villagers I want.

Absolutely not. Nook miles are easy enough to make and it costs me no real-life money to go villager-hunting on mystery islands. There are also so many places online to go to trade or buy villagers from other players for bells/NMTs/items that it just doesn't make sense to me. I already spent $60 on the game itself, which is a lot of money for me.

i reset 3 hours for deirdre and i'd do it all over again over spending money for an amiibo

I would possibly consider it if I have tried my hardest and failed after a long period of time.
Desperate times call for desperate measures.
Yeah, I'm probably the same. If I had tried my hardest island-hopping, or tried my best trying to obtain a trade on here, and still didn't get anywhere then I probably would. I probably wouldn't spend anything more than like $30 unless I wanted something really badly, which I don't. Paying a relatively small price just seems a bit more logical if you're guaranteed to get something, rather than wasting time for a small chance of getting something.

Honestly? No, I wouldn't. I don't feel comfortable paying for second-hand amiibo cards for highly marked up prices, and I don't feel comfortable buying blank NFC things from sketchy sites to 'make my own' amiibo cards because I'd like to support Nintendo, not strangers.

Besides, why buy them myself when others will buy them and I can exchange in-game goods for their cards. :u

No, I haven't. I paid £3.50/£4 for Lucky's card a couple of years ago and that's the most I've spent, the rest were much, much less. I can't believe the prices of amiibo cards now. I even have the Sanrio set and they're an insane price.

Didn't need to but if I hadn't gotten Raymond naturally I may have, to be honest. His current going price for in-game currency is too outrageous for me to want to grind out in-game and I have plenty of disposable income. Even buying Raymond for like $100 would be more more efficient than spending dozens of hours in-game earning enough to try to buy him that way.

I bought Audie with NMT.

Every other villager I've wanted, so far, I just use NFC stickers and load them up with my phone.
