Yes. I would love to have real crops in my garden. Recipes would be great too. There's just not enough food items.

I'm hoping that we get a recipe for a Jack o lantern. You would just need a pumpkin and a candle.

A pumpkin pie recipe could be sugarcane, wheat, and pumpkin? Or maybe you could use a recipe to make flour from the wheat and sugarcane for a bag of sugar.

I forgot to screencap it, but out of nowhere one of my normal villagers just said it was a great day for planting vegetables, so I wonder if it’s already baked into the upcoming fall update like that Cranky dialog about Brewster or Isabelle mentioning adding new shops in her eval

Having a garden where you grow things like carrots would be a nice addition. Would probably plant some crops in villagers' backyards and imagine they're the ones watering them.

Maybe cooking could be kind of like the Roost minigame in New Leaf. I enjoyed making coffee for villagers so imagine if they expanded that to other kinds of food.

I’m all for more food, drinks and stuff to do even though I’m not bored with what we have to do already. Been a fan of the idea of cooking before I got NH. I’d like it to be like in the sims 3 where there are a couple of different ways to make a recipe such as any fish (or a specific one) + fruit or whatever types of ingredients there are. It’d be interesting to make consumables and food/drink decorative furniture (maybe with some interactions available) and to have a chance to fail and result in a failure decorative item (like ashes or charred food or something).

For consumables, I’d like them to give us different effects like one food give us ability to swim faster or breathe underwater longer. Another, give us more luck and earn more bells when we sell stuff; another let us move by bugs undetected.

Farming? definitely! At a low level, picking berries from bushes, a few crops... that would be cute and not make it a farming game (which I don't really want). Cooking? I don't know. Maybe if it's done like in Breath of the Wild (except that it gives you hearts lol), where it feels like a small part you can explore if you want to but not a main part in any way. I have a hard time seeing how cooking would be utilized as a benefit, like, how it would actually function and give in game. Would it work like fruit? Do nothing? Sell for bells? I don't know, and that makes me a bit hesitant in wanting it in the game.

Sure, why not. Would be cool to see how they'd incorporate them into the game - perhaps crafting recipes for harvest festival? Considering flowers cannot die anymore, perhaps crops will be more high maintenance.

AS for cooking, I would hope for an interactive minigame instead of a boring animation each time. Maybe like the cooking minigame from fantasy life.

I did at one point.

Now I'd rather just have all the NL food items back.

I've boycotted crafting completely.

Meh I wouldn't personally want it. What would it even be good for? In other games like BotW and Minecraft, cooking has benefits for health and stamina and such. AC lacks that, and introducing it just for cooking would be horrid. I really, truly, honestly could not care less about food-themed furniture, either. Like if it was introduced, I wouldn't complain publicly but I'd also definitely be bummed that an update was wasted on something I wouldn't use.

Cooking would be an interesting one. For years, our villagers keep talking about different kinds of foods, but we never really get the chance to make them. If this ever comes true, it would be lovely to cook foods for our villagers, especially the lazies since they talk about it nonstop.

Its been a while since I looked at the notes ninji made regarding these items before nintendo started altering the names in coding to hide new features, but! I believe it was found that they had coding written for growth patterns similar to that of the flowers which suggests theyd be planted and grown, which causes me to lean more towards the option to grow foods actually being a new mechanic vs a thanksgiving event. (unless they no longer grow or the seeds are unavailable after the event/very limited?)

Anyway!!!
I would absolutely love to be able to grow fruits and vegetables as well as cook. I think it would be a nice way to introduce food-themed furniture and clothing items such as the sweets set and add a new element to the game that could open up a lot of possibilities. I mean, imagine how cute it would be to receive cocoa powder from Isabelle in February and be able to use it as well as other common ingredients grown on the island to make a sweet treat for your favorite villager!

Personally I don't care about if the food items give us special skills or buffs since the game isn't really about all of that. Eating fruit to destroy rocks/move trees just seems like a way to improve on terraforming and I don't see them adding in any other meters. I just like the idea of making food to share with villagers, craft food themed items, and to display them in your home.

I am undecided, because on the one hand it could give us new crafts/ crafting supplies and new ways to interact with villagers, and a potentially fun new aspect for the game. All of which would be great, and I have enjoyed growing the flower and crafting with them.

on the other hand I feel like maybe the game might start to get a little too busy. I already often don’t have time to dive, even though I like swimming. I couldn’t tell you what I do in my game all the time, but I feel I am kept busy while still not overwhelmed with things to do, and that is how I like it. plus my island might start to get a bit cramped/ I will have to redesign (though that could also be fun...)

if I had to choose one big addition to the game I would want to choose more villagers over farming though. And even though the two are totally unrelated, my brain gets stuck on that desired trade off.

the idea of farming / food gathering as a seasonal event sounds fun to me too.

I would love to see it added to the game! It would definitely add a lot more to the game in general, and give me a reason to make a farm area on my island as well!

i personally don’t think i’d like the addition of farming; to me, it’d start to feel less like animal crossing and more like harvest moon/stardew valley if they added something like that. and while i do like harvest moon, i wouldn’t really like farming to become a thing in animal crossing. that’s just never been the vibe of the series, if that makes sense.

that being said, i wouldn’t mind cooking; i’m not sure how entirely this would work but recipes could be similar to diys - you could purchase a mini cookbook from nook’s cranny and could occasionally encounter your villagers cooking which would then prompt them to share the recipe with you. the harvest festival and franklin’s arrival could be a nice way to introduce this feature!

They should add BOTW's cooking mechanics to ACNH. Having a hasty meal for moving around faster or a stealth boosting meal for catching bugs would be nice. It would be great if they brought back the mighty bananas so you can cook them to boost your attack and make you strong enough to use your woodcutter axe to kill unwanted villagers.

Honestly? Right now I just want new content in any form because I love the game but I’m starting to switch off from it because there isn’t enough to do anymore.

New stuff in a game always sounds like an attractive idea. Who doesn't like new stuff? But does AC need farming and cooking? Does it improve the game or will it simply become busy work? Content for the sake of content?

AC has never been a farming or cooking game. I don't feel it needs either mechanic now. I mean, my player character doesn't even eat. (We only eat to move fully grown trees or break rocks. That's magic eating, not eating-eating.) To me, creating an environment that makes it attractive to animal villagers so they will move in and live with us for a while is what AC is fundamentally about. As such, I'd rather more content in the form of more animal villagers or more items to improve the environment.

Yes absolutely! I would love it if villagers asked for certain meals or food items and you have to make/grow it for them (kinda like the request feature of pocket camp I guess).
I mean they are always talking about food anyway...
I would love to make Sherb some snacks he can share with his bug friends and give Bam the ultimate protein shake.

No, I don’t want farming and cooking to be incorporated into the game. Maybe just for like harvest festival if they absolutely had too.

there’s a reason I load up AC not Stardew. Each game is great, and I love Stardew, but sometimes I just don’t want to faff with farming.
