Would anyone find a myth busting guide to AC:NL useful?

Basically, I've seen a lot of 'theories' and 'tips' running around these forums; just a sample of the ones that I've seen over the months I've been a member here on BBT:

* You can ask a camper from a friends village to live in your town (false)
* You have to cycle through 16 villagers moving out of your town to be able to have an original villager back in your town (true)
* You do not have to cycle through the '16 villagers' rule if said villager is exactly the same villager that moved out and you are inviting them back from a friends/alternative village (false)
* Talking to the little girl on the island allows more bugs to spawn (false)
* Tom Nook appears in his pajamas if you bash your shovel three times against his shop after closing time (true but not in animal crossing: new leaf - does in the japanese Doubutsu no Mori e+)

Now, as you've seen these theories have been met with power from both sides; some saying they're true and others point blank refusing to accept anything before seeing evidence in the way of a screenshot I've had some mixed responses about these but I'd love to put forward a thread to help people distinguish what is 'true' about a rumour and what's generally occurred through chinese whispers.

What I aim from this thread is to dispel some of these rumours and myths and give rationale as to why this would be unlikely to be true.

What I'd like from this thread is a collection of more popular myths (and general discussion about said rumours) that people have seen on this website - and others such as reddit and gamefaqs - so I can collect info for the guide and suss whether if it would be helpful.

I had heard you can only get one camper a week, but this week I got two. One on Tuesday then again on Thursday. I do not time travel.

Hmmm. I've seen plenty of occassions in my village where two separate campers can camp in the same week next to each other; the only day they do not camp is Sunday as a special character Joan is in town (with hur turrnnups) as far as I am aware.

I'm pretty sure I've had a camper on Sunday once.
It's not that a special character prevents campers in your town. I remember Copper mentioning both a special character and a camper on the same day.

This would be great! you should set yourself up where you actually do the myth busting yourself with screenies etc. that can kind of verify what you found out. Maybe also make a separate post saying what Myth you are busting 'this week' kinda thing.

I mean, that's how these rumors start. Anybody can just claim to have experienced something with no evidence.
I don't believe in the 'one camper per week' myth anyways but still lol.

Don't forget about the "if you put paths on your town you will not kill the grass below", some people still think that that works.

I've actually had the same thing happen. It did that for weeks after I first built it, but not so often anymore. Twice a week, rarely in a row happens lately..

I'm working on testing the haircut thing. Is it 15 DIFFERENT haircuts or just 15 times getting it cut, even the same cut. I've already done two different ones, but I've cut my hair five times now, with 4 of them being the same style, different color.
