I'm working on landscaping my pretty autumn town and planting tons of sweet olive starts... however, when I tried to create a path going up to my newest player home in the middle of my orchard, three of them refused to grow! I have no clue why this happened because the string of bushes would only be 8 long, including the three that died. I will also try to plant trees sometimes which will refuse to grow in some places, even when there are no problems with the placement. Does anyone know what's going on and if there's a way to fix it?

There's too much stuff in the area for them to grow.. They can't be surrounded :c
So you'll have to dig up all the bushes on the right side and replant them one at a time so they aren't surrounded on all sides. You might also need to cut the persimmons down and replant them when you're done.

Good luck! ~

I think it is because you have too many bushes and trees in the acre you are in. Try digging up the bushes on that line where the starts died, and replant them one by one, one day at a time. This happened to me when I was trying to plant azalea bushes to line my paths. When I dug up the surrounding bushes and replanted them one by one each day, they all grew for me, so maybe it will work for you, too :)

Yeh, its a shame their is a cap on the number of bushes/trees/treestumps you can have in a row. You just have to find creative solutions around the problem.

The issue isn't that there can't be more than 12 bushes in a row. There were only 7 planted and then the three died. I haven't gotten a chance to try the advice given yet as I haven't had enough starts, we'll see what happens though.
