Why is Food CPU Only?

Maybe I don't visit here enough and might had missed a topic or post regarding what I just realized, but I haven't seen anyone remark on it. What I am talking about is the villagers and how they have all these little accessories they can pull out and interact with. For example they'll pull out a popsicle, doughnut, sandwich, or drink of some sort and take little sips/bites.

Like when they were creating this, what part of their mind told them the players would never want this kind of feature/items for themselves? It's giving the pc villagers more creative freedom than us. It makes me feel like I'm not really part of the island and I am just an overseer that is forced to watch from a looking lens, but I can't participate.

I don't know if this is something they overlooked or if they just didn't care enough to implement. Who wouldn't want to be able to buy all those food goodies and or make some kind of restaurant/cafe/ice-cream parlor. Or how like villagers can have magnifying glasses, books, and the such. It worries me that when and if Brewster comes around we won't be able to carry around a coffee drink anymore. Or the sparkling cider from New Years. Or the little ice-cream cones/balloons you could carry around.

This is stuff that should be here and now. Not in an update 1/2 year from now. I don't get it. It's like now that we have to pay for online, the game took steps backwards. It's not the only game that you have to pay to play online now and is not as great as its predecessors. I'm looking at you Smash Ultimate.

Do you all think they'll ever add anything like these in a future update cause I used to love having all those food items you could decorate or eat.

I feel the same way! I really wish we could participate/engage with other food items. The only thing that comes close is the frozen treats set, which isn't even a match for anything they eat. I really hate that we have a barbecue grill yet can't set out food that looks like it's cooked. People are so creative with custom designs (I.e. sandwich designs on cutting board, cake hats, etc.) but I wish food was a part of the game. Think of how much fun collecting resources to "cook" with could be!

tell me about it...i'd love to have a sucker like lucky had the other day. i know you get cupcakes for your b-day but you are posta share them with villagers. we can also eat fruit but like i miss how in NL we had ice-cream, coffee, candy, drinks, cake, ect. i hope they add it in.

I totally forgot about the pinwheel and the tweeter...or how during Valentines day you'd get little heart chocolates.

I made a gameshow room with balloons and another room that was this whimsical desert where I had all the sweets and ice-cream. I made it into a parlor room. Right now, I'm just hoping that we can carry around the coffee cup and interact with it when Brewster shows up. They'll really let me and everyone else down if they don't do that.

I would love food items in the game other than the moms cake, and would love to be able to interact with them! People have been so creative with food hats (ramen, pudding, pizzas to name a few) but the developers should really incorporate these into the game

Don't get me wrong, the communities creativity with restrictions is amazing. Even I have tried different creative ideas on this game and in NL because that game had a lot of restrictions with outside usage. But I feel like NH really choked our creative flow even more and it's a shame. It really shouldn't be the communities problem to find solutions to the game's lackluster selections.

I have a feeling that, when the cafe is added (and it's a safe bet it will be), we'll get some more food options.

I'd love to not only be able to eat it, but maybe it could have SPECIAL effect. Like, maybe some of it could give the option to move rocks instead of trees? Or tree stumps?

I think it's less that they didn't add it because they didn't think we wanted it, and more that they set it up as something that can be added at another point, maybe after they see how players seem interested in seeing it be implemented. Admittedly, I'm being very optimistic here I know, but I think it'll be added.

If it makes ya feel better; since we’re probably going to have a fireworks festival event next month, that’s a perfect time to add little party favors. I know it’s not exactly the response you want; I’m getting a little impatient with some aspects I want myself. I also think that phineas is going to give all the favors out (along with Redd)

I'm actually pretty surprised that we have drinks and snack machines in the game, complete with a cool animation and all, but they don't give you anything to hold... But yeah, we will probably have to wait until whenever we get the cafe.

I used to hold coffee cups all the time in New Leaf when I wasn't doing anything else, so I kind of miss it here. I hope they bring that back if Brewster ever returns.

Wasn't Phineas a balloon vendor in one of the earlier games? I never played CF, so it might be that one.
