i like to play animal crossing because it gives me a creative outlet and a way to make and achieve goals without much stress. it also allows me to keep consistent schedules, something i struggle with, and its positivity is kind of infectious.
i play because it gives me a break from real life and my problems; i can just focus on decorating and talking to villagers and fishing/bug catching instead of letting my mind wander. it also gives me a creative outlet too as i get to decorate my town/island and my house however i please :3
First, I love the atmosphere- the calm, lackadaisical vibe of just moseying along in a small village. I love the sense of belonging it gives you. Walking around well it's raining in-game... you plant flowers and check on your neighboring cat whilst deciding whether or not you want the windmill to go in the woods or on the cliff... it just feels wonderful. From the K.K. performances on Saturday to taking a moment to write a letter for a villager, it just feels great. I've always loved stuff like that.
Second, because of reason one, Animal Crossing is calming. It not only satisfies my creativity (and more or less control-freak nature) but it brings me down to earth. Everything feels simple and slow again.
Third, Animal Crossing has almost become a part of my personality over the many years I've played it. The vibe of the game and its aspects fit me so well, I can't really see me not playing it. To put it blatantly- it makes me happy.
There are a few other miscellaneous/personal reasons why I love Animal Crossing, but these are the most prominent.
I have no irl friends so these animals are perfect :')
No but seriously it has all the qualities I like in a game-- customization, relaxation and collecting. I don't have to put a lot of effort into the game but it is still rewarding and fun. I also love the holidays and festivals in the game, I don't get to really celebrate them much in real life so its fun to go on the game and see all the celebrations going on.
I play Animal Crossing because it's my escape. For a few hours, I get to live in a peaceful world surrounded by animals and leave the stress of the real world behind. It's also a nice creative outlet for creating characters, designing my houses and working on my town.
Despite how time consuming playing Animal Crossing can be, I played it because it was a fun, relaxing experience and the hoarder in me likes collecting items, I suppose.
Wild World had upbeat music and funny character interactions. AC GCN also had good music, some of the best dialogue and so much content that even now I find out something new, occasionally. And New Leaf had fun mini games, online play and a lot of collectible items and customization potions.
i never asked myself this before, hm.
i guess because it's really relaxing- i've fallen asleep playing it at night before lmfao. plus, you have so much freedom! like you said, it's a creative outlet. i also loveee the concept! you've gotta be really creative to come up with a plot like animal crossings. i mean, come on, living in a town with a bunch of animals? it's not everyday someone comes up with a really good idea like that. i'm so glad they went through with making this game instead of leaving it as an idea!
It's just nice to have this peaceful and nice place where you can spend hours on end. You can be creative, have nice interactions and just some sort of familiarity throughout your life. You can also always set yourself goals, and make yourself happier by achieving them.
My reason is to help me relax. When I’m playing I zone out major and nothing irl kinda gets to me. There’s no overthinking, no anxiety and no sadness. It’s kinda like an alternate reality. Sometimes you just need to get away from real life and due to lockdown a lot of us haven’t been able to have a break as everyday has literally been Groundhog Day.. but yeah it’s such a relaxing game to play. If I’m really stressed I’ll TT to bug off day and do that cause then I’m doing a task based thing which distracts me completely. It’s such a lovely game and when you try to explain it to someone who has never played any of them before they say ‘sounds like a kids game’ wellll y’know what, being a kid was so much less stressful than being a single mum with 2 young kids so maybe I wanna relive my childhood
I play it because it’s relaxing and also provides a creative outlet for me what with the freedom to customize my town. Also I got tired of more hardcore games.
I play AC mainly because I like interacting with villagers and decorating. I love games that give you loads of customisation options, as well as games with cute critters (like Pokemon haha) so I guess AC is a combination of two things that I love.
