Why do you like/dislike your river?

I'm super curious about what everyone thinks about the river - moreso, the rivermouths the game has given us. I've only ever had a map with the rivermouths both pointing to the south. The thing I enjoy about it is that they give the island a more "symmetrical" look on the map - if that makes any sense. The thing I dislike about my river, though, is that it seems to greatly limit the space I have on the south of my island.

How is everyone else feeling about where their rivers meet the sea? Does anyone have any input as to which is "better" or "easier" to work with?
Any input is super appreciated.

here’s what mine looks like. i’m not sure of all the possibilities out there but i’m content with my river and river mouths. i guess the only ‘complaint’ i have is that sometimes angling myself to try and catch any fish there feels a bit difficult but i think that’s more about fishing being a bit finicky at times and less about the river itself ;u;

I have the double south river mouths and I adore them, I also adore the cozy little space it creates on the south half of the island. I put all my buildings there and it feels like a village

I don't like the rivers overall very much in ACNH because of how blocky terraforming makes them D:

I used to hate where my river mouths were, but I made it kinda work in the end. Sometimes I still wish I had double south mouths.

I have double south. wouldn't say I hated it but it can be a pain to work with two narrow strips of land on either side of the island at times.

I wish I could change my river without making it look unnatural. No idea what the developers sacrificed to which god to be able do the riverbanks like that.

I'm fine with their placement/location although I'm not a big fan of how river mouths look in general. I kind of miss the waterfalls from New Leaf, so I made sure to put waterfalls near my river mouths I have South / East river mouths and I developed little villages around them that are closed off from the rest of the island. Currently my rivers don't actually meet but I planned for them to connect when I eventually redo the middle chunk of my island afterHalloween.

My original river seemed nice but split off in such a way I had a lot of area where I couldn't put any bridges unfortunately, when I got the island design tool I just altogether took out my river for a while lol! The river mouths are south and west, which will be nice, but it makes designing my island kind of stressful since I'm not good at that sort of thing when I can't make things symmetrical (luckily I found a map I like I can kind of copy). I wish you could make diagonal waterfalls though :c (Also tangentially related but I think it would be so cool if they introduced a way to plant lily pads or something in your water like in GC, since hacking plants into your water was also really popular in NL!)

I wish I got both south rivers i really dislike my rivers and it’s one reason why I want to reset. I “closed” one river end but you cant fully take away the river end, which I hate but what else can i do

I think I would prefer the West and South outlets. My Island has the East and South outlets and it is meh. My actual rivers though, I greatly dislike and I feel like they are completely ruined because I terraformed them lol and can't manage to fix them. So now they look pretty artificial to me.
I do think that the 2 southern outlets would be the hardest map to work with in my opinion. I mean it might be cool to have them hooked up to a lake in the lower half of the map.
edit Oh and I wish it would allow us to put a bridge across the outlets to connect the beaches... but I understand why they don't allow that... Salmon fishes...

I have double south river mouths and they're alright if you want to divide island space to have a particularly big area dedicated to something specific. For example, I have my river arching over my shops, Resident Services, and the museum while all the houses are spread out around them across the river. I should post an image of my map for more context but my Switch is charging and I'm currently on mobile XP

I can say from experience that one can make double south river mouths work, but it's hard because I feel like it restricts the space as they're closer to one another on the island. It's been a challenge to make my island how I wanted it, considering some things I envisioned in my head needed my island to have south/west river mouths and I'm too far gone in the game to restart, eventually I've made things work!

I have the west/south river mouths and I'm fine with it. While I was resetting for my current island, I knew I didn't want the double south ones because I didn't like the small strips of land on either side.

Mine is ok, but it would be nice if we could change our river mouths.
