I'm mostly talking about bronies... I find them pretty creepy tbh.
Do they actually enjoy the show or do they just want attention?

Everyone has their own reasons for liking something. When a person likes a TV show, it's usually because they find the show to be entertaining.

I like MLP because I'm a little girl :p

I'm open to people liking anything! But I do sometimes wonder why the exact males who "hate all things feminine" tend to MLP. And yes, I mean the people who mock "girl gamers" and mock people who like games like Animal Crossing. Yet they watch a feminist show with a 6/6 female main cast that promotes equality and friendship. Hm...

A long time ago, I used to wish Strawberry Shortcake could be the thing that got popular instead of MLP. (not the "Berry Bitty" series, but the older one that had Angel Cake, Ginger Snap, and Orange Blossom.)

I loved Stawberry Shortcake when I was little. I would've been elated if the show had become a meme and something "cool" to like. In fact, I was really joyful at first when MLP became popular because I thought that it would teach people about friendship and how to be nicer. A "girl" show becoming such a huge hit seemed like something revolutionary. I've always adored doll franchises with overly-sugary shows. Finally, the very thing I was ashamed of liking so much was becoming the next big thing to like. I thought the fandom was going to be filled with similar sweet, understanding children-at-heart.

But alas, that's not what happened at all.

Nowadays I'm glad Strawberry Shortcake didn't get a fanbase like MLP, people would've ruined its kind, childish innocence with the gross fanart and their attitude. People actually turn MLP into something sexual and twisted, plus a lot of the fans are really elitist and kind of rude. It's really ironic, because if they like the show that much, why don't they follow the lessons about friendship and kindness?

I'm not saying that all bronies are like this, I do realize there are some very nice and understanding ones. I'm talking about the ones who are a bit more obnoxious than that. :|

Most of them just enjoy the show, but some go a little further and make porn for it and things like that.

To be honest, I find it creepy when they go as far as that. I think it's perfectly all right for them to enjoy the show, though. It only starts to get creepy when they start obsessing over it and collecting the toys and things. To each their own, though. It's not my place to speak.

I think they can watch what they want, but constant spamming of it and trying to shove it down our throats is annoying. Sure, I liked it as a kid, but the fan art and pony-somas or even the creepy fanfics are creepy as frick.

This. I was 10 when I liked the show, but I stopped watching after season 5 episode 9 came out. I just lost interest in the show. My little cousin likes it though. Tbh, I had a bunch of MLP figurines, but I gave them all to my cousin :)
But if anyone older likes the show, let them be!!

I personally don't care if someone likes MLP since everyone has stuff they are interested in. I'd just rather not see the... quite disturbing drawings or images of them doing things. If you're into that... cool I guess! Just not for me.

To me, it's an innocent show and I can understand if someone who is older does indeed enjoy watching it. Just... please... no lewd pony drawings or pictures.

I used to be very big into the show and I can tell you that like... a solid 90% or something of fans aren't really fans of the show, but are more or less fans of the community.

I mean, how many people on here even play Animal Crossing that often? It's the same concept.

I can understand if someone likes the show but why on earth would anyone want to associate themselves with bronies?

This is my experience from before they started to become universally weird. I can't tell you why anybody would willingly take on the title now - even my friends that still like the show refuse to call themselves bronies, they are very adamant on just being called a fan.

I guess when you're part of a community and you've found a comfy place to settle down on the internet, it's not that easy to just leave. That's also how it was for me.

I liked it back in 2012. I saw people putting the ponies as their avatars and I thought they were super cute so I checked out the show. It's fun and amusing and provides good lessons. I think bronies for the most part are cancerous but the show is still fine. Equestria Girls on the other hand are overall horrible films.

Bronies were okay when the show first started but as the community grew, it got worse.

One of my old friends was a brony, and from what I've seen for the most part, a lot of bronies are...... well, they're into the dark side of it. The gory, the weird, etc. I've personally never seen MLP and I don't plan on it. There are some bronies though who aren't as bad when it comes to that type of stuff, but the whole topic is just weird imo.

A show aimed at girls has more male fans than female is fine with me; what I don't like is the weird stuff that exists that I end up seeing when my friends mention it and I have to google it just to know what they're saying.

Though let's be real here for a minute. I don't care what fandom you are in, if it exists, there is porn of it. Like Google Misty from Pokemon and look up images and tell me straight in the face that you did not find anything creepy or perverted. Every fandom has it.
