I like MLP because I'm a little girl
I'm open to people liking anything! But I do sometimes wonder why the exact males who "hate all things feminine" tend to MLP. And yes, I mean the people who mock "girl gamers" and mock people who like games like Animal Crossing. Yet they watch a feminist show with a 6/6 female main cast that promotes equality and friendship. Hm...
A long time ago, I used to wish Strawberry Shortcake could be the thing that got popular instead of MLP. (not the "Berry Bitty" series, but the older one that had Angel Cake, Ginger Snap, and Orange Blossom.)
I loved Stawberry Shortcake when I was little. I would've been elated if the show had become a meme and something "cool" to like. In fact, I was really joyful at first when MLP became popular because I thought that it would teach people about friendship and how to be nicer. A "girl" show becoming such a huge hit seemed like something revolutionary. I've always adored doll franchises with overly-sugary shows. Finally, the very thing I was ashamed of liking so much was becoming the next big thing to like. I thought the fandom was going to be filled with similar sweet, understanding children-at-heart.
But alas, that's not what happened at all.
Nowadays I'm glad Strawberry Shortcake didn't get a fanbase like MLP, people would've ruined its kind, childish innocence with the gross fanart and their attitude. People actually turn MLP into something sexual and twisted, plus a lot of the fans are really elitist and kind of rude. It's really ironic, because if they like the show that much, why don't they follow the lessons about friendship and kindness?
I'm not saying that all bronies are like this, I do realize there are some very nice and understanding ones. I'm talking about the ones who are a bit more obnoxious than that. :|
