Why do people hide on the island?

I dunno, maybe because the kid was 10 (if he wasn't lying like your cousin) and that thought hadn't occurred to him?

Ok, now back go the question at hand: why would you hide instead of erroring?

I don't know why people hide, I don't but I said if I was in their shoes I would. Maybe they're busy and you disturbed them and they just want you to leave them alone?

But why hide at all? Saying he's 10 doesn't explain the reason. I've seen people who were my age do this and some who said they did this.

Not everyone looks at the world in your eyes. Some people hide because they don't want to be talked to, or they don't want to get scammed. Some people show themselves because they don't really care, or they want to play with someone. It mostly depends on the person.

Ok, never said that.

This is why I say to those people, "Cut the crap and error." But, either way, I'll just document it *shrugs*.

Maybe the mentality is "if they don't see me, they'll get bored and leave me alone".

I mean, yeah I would have flipped the switch, but like FireNinja said, not everyone knows to do that and I didn't either until I read about it online. I don't go to the island much and I've never gone with anyone that wouldn't "let" me leave, but I gather that if the host doesn't end the session no one else can leave or something? If that's the case, then I can see why they would just hope that if they hide out in a corner somewhere where hopefully you can't find them, you'd just lose interest and end the session that way.

I've been held hostage before on the island by N%ZI wannabes in SS uniforms, I could tell they were the same age as Desi, what was fun to them wasn't to us

If that kid really wanted to avoid you, he could've just left his 3DS until you get bored

That's insightful. People hiding on the island is like a mixture of cute, funny, and annoying lol.

I always out-wait people, thanks to YouTube and Tumblr. The last person that waited, waited for 4 hours before erroring.

Obviously they just aren't as cool and amazing as you can't help but avoid the greatness that is your presence. They realize quickly that you're the best troll to ever exist and simply know that there's no point in struggling. Simply submitting to you because their feeble minds couldn't possibly compare to your own vast intelligence. (I can tell from reading the other post you're a natural and gifted genius ;D) They don't know how to handle such an incredible man so they hide, hoping only to bask in your light and absorb as much as they possibly can before you grow bored with them. I know for one that after encountering you on the island I would probably have nothing to say. For what can you say when faced with someone who's so obviously better than you? Someone of your trolling prowess has complete control over anyone they could ever encounter and that can make lesser people feel scared and confused.
I'm kind of shocked you didn't figure that out yourself. : )

I try to be humble.
I'm a mere jester lol.

I hide on the island a lot.
My character has a dark skin tone and the only way to maintain it, unfortunately, is to tan frequently. Sometimes, my personal island is cloudy and I cannot tan there, so I am forced to find a Multi-Player sunny island. I usually hide behind the cabin and AFK. Swimming makes me "active" and allows me to tan and I hide because I'm not there to actually interact with people.

You can't hide from it, mate. What goes around comes around.

What? That didn't even make sense.

Well, here's what you do: go on a tour once you get to the island, finish the tour, set another one, but DON'T GO ON IT, and then tan. BC I promise you, if I run into you, I will play the reset bomb game with you.

I dunno man, from the way this 10 year old got into your head, I'd say you're the one that got trolled.

He didn't get inside my head lol. I've had some people do this (the waiting game), but he was just an example. The fact that people do it in general is what I'm talking about.

Wait so, are you just asking people for reasons they might not want to interact with you so you can find new ways to irritate them?

I don't see how this is funny, to be honest. You are 20 years old, "trolling" a bunch of children and stealing their time. Kind of pathetic if you ask me.
