Why do people have all the same dreamies?

I've noticed a lot of towns and mayors that want the exact same dreamies. Usually high-tier villagers. I thought dreamies were villagers people liked the most? I guess people just like the same villagers, I don't know. My dreamies list has hardly any high-tier villagers on it.

The ones I see the most are Meringue, Marshall, Diana, and Rosie. I mean, yeah, they're adorable of course, but it's just weird going to all of these dream addresses and seeing the exact same villagers every time.

Does anyone know why this is? Is it a popularity/goal thing? I'm really confused and I'm wondering if I'm getting the word 'dreamie' wrong.

Dreamies are just your favorite or ideal villagers, and that changes from person to person. They may like them because they're cute, they're popular, they fit a town theme, etc. My "dreamies" were all just the ones I thought were the cutest.

Its like Yay! I got all these popular villagers to show off! But its also because if you look there all pretty darn cute. But not everyone has all tier 1 if you look at mine I have a few tier 5

I don't know. I can't even manage to pick ones to be my dreamies. There are a lot of villagers I have come across that I didn't think I would like, but they ended up being my favorites out of the whole town. They're always different...I feel like having a list of dreamies would hinder me from becoming friends with ones I generally wouldn't.

yep I agree with badcrumbs lol and its just that many people think that the "top-tier" villagers are cute so they become the "top-tier villagers" lol my dreamies are mostly "high-tier" villagers, but they're really just the ones I thought were the cutest though ^^ (yes... including tabby, the cat who some people describe as ugly or scary T__T)

I chose my dreamies because I thought they were super cute! Honestly my town is 50% tier 5 most of the time.

Well, tbh I've never understood why Marshal is so popular. But Merengue is cute as **** that's true.

Just personal tastes that many seem to share, I adore Rosie's design and many of the cats for example but I'm not keen on the octopus villagers. For me I wanted permanent villagers in my main town so I didn't have to worry about plot resetting in the future, I chose villagers I liked the look of and who represented things I like in RL, I'm two away from completing my main town now. I don't have all top tiers but I have a few.

The reason why villagers are at the top is because they're dreamies.
Some people simply want these villagers because they're dreamies, whilst others want them because they like their designs.

I don't think people use them to show off. If they're really common, what exactly would you be showing off? It like saying "Oh I have a pair of underpants! Are you jealous?" I think it's more of people wanting them as some sort of collectible or cuteness.

I have Diana just because her house was in a nice place when I first started and I don't feel like moving her. I find her rather lackluster though.

I don't think there's a reason to over analyze it, it's simply because Marshal, Rosie etc are the most popular and people want the cutest/most popular villagers to show off. Dreamy can also be replaced by "most desired" "most wanted" etc it doesn't necessarily mean favorite.

I picked out Julian, Marshal, and Stitches when I saw pictures of them. Julian is an unicorn and the other two are super cute. Apollo was my davorite villager in my first town. The others im keeping are not popular, except for Rudy, arent popular.

Dreamies can be any villagers, they're villagers that are your dream ones. I have villager I want in my town but I don't consider them dreamies because my list changes (I've had random move-ins I decided to keep because I really liked them, even though I wasn't planning on that) and because I don't feel the need to move out half of my town urgently to get all the ones I want.

I think that there are certain villagers who are just more popular for different reasons. In some cases, it's just their design. A big part of the community likes similar things so they probably end up liking the looks of specific villagers. There are some town themes that are more popular than others, like food. There are a few people who just want what's popular to show off, too.

Just keep in mind that the tiers only apply to this community (they may be different in other sites) and sometimes they change. There are villagers I have that were Tier 5 (lowest in popularity) when I started out here, but are now in Tier 3 or 4. Unless I'm remembering incorrectly, some villagers have been downgraded as well. If you look at older threads about villagers people hated or villagers that were underrated, some villagers that are very popular now were more disliked at the time.

I have to add that my town is pretty mixed in terms of tiers. I don't think I have any Tier 1s, but I have some that are in higher Tiers and others that are in Tier 5. Out of the villagers I'd love to have eventually, most are Tier 5s. I don't care much about the popularity ranking, I just care about their designs and personalities.
