• Good evening, everyone! We have an egg hunt announcement! An additional clue for egg #21 will be posted Monday at 6 PM EDT if it hasn't been found by then. The egg hunt will also be extended until Tuesday morning at 10 AM EDT.

Why do people have all the same dreamies?

Popular villagers are usually pretty cute looking, and people tend to incline towards things( in this case, villagers) that are perceived as cute/pretty... And honestly there's nothing wrong with that. Regardless of how popular they are, Marshal, Merengue, stitches and beau will always be my loves :3

P.s. But then again, I do also love villagers that are not tier 1, such as roscoe, genji, biskit..

As others have stated, dreamies are basically the most sought out villagers, which is how the tier ones got there in the first place. Most people just think they're cute and the best looking, but others may want them because of how popular they are or to sell them. The tiers often change order as well, depending on the popularity of a villager at a time. But I honestly wish there were no tiers so the lower ones could be more recognized. It's like "Oh wow, tier ones are the first group of villagers I see and since they're so popular and cute they must be the best!!!" I think that everyone should look at all villagers as a whole, which I'm sure most do, but still.

Because they're cute, and more popular.
That's how the majority views the Tier 1/2 villagers, but to be honest I'm really surprised that Willow and Gladys are not considered to be in at least Tier 3.
I got Marshal as a random move in villager when I started my second town, and I didn't really complain tbh XD
But my favourite villagers are definitely the duo of Francine and Chrissy. Cute matching neon rabbits <3

Tier one villagers are popular for a reason. They have the most widely appealing and unique designs, and people want villagers that stand out.
There's nothing wrong with liking tier 4-5 villagers. I have Pashmina as one of my dreamies, and there are a couple more that I hope I can get if I start a second town!

It's all really personal preference. A person's dreamie list is the villagers that they find most appealing and want in their town. Maybe it's for popularity? Maybe it's the animals' looks? I don't know, I can't say for other people. It's all their personal preference.

My dreamies happens to be the villagers I had in Wild World. I thought the tier 1 villagers are cute but they're so common nowadays that I feel neutral when seeing them ^^;;

Like everyone said, I think a lot of people have them because they're cute, and also because they're popular. People probably didn't know what villagers they want in their town, and since they kept seeing the same villagers over and over, they want them. Adding to the fact that they have a villager that is well-sought in their town, which might give them a slightly proud feeling...?

I'm a bit sad that we're too caught up with appearance that we overlook the "lower-tiered" ones that can be as cute. It's too bad the personality in ACNL isn't much varied so your dreamies are based on how cute they are :c

People usually go for appearance and that's it, really.

All the villagers are the exact same thing except the appearance is different.

I wouldn't blame people for having the same exact dreamies, it's been in the Animal Crossing experience since Wild World.

people like cute villagers.

people also like food.

cute food villagers... there's a reason marshal, merengue and zucker are popular.

people also like unicorns!! like julian.

maybe i'm the only one here who think that merengue is ugly. please don't kill me merengue fans :P

So.. I remember not too long ago you made a thread about how you didn't understand Rosie's popularity.
Like everyone in that thread told you, people have different villager tastes and certain villagers are more popular simply because people think their designs are cute. For example, the majority of people think puppies are cute in real life. It's honestly the same sort of thing: when something is cute or has a nice design, people like it. It doesn't mean all people do, but a whole lot of them do.
It's really pretty simple. Diana, Marshal, Merengue and Rosie (and other tier one villagers) are dreamies of a lot of people because a lot of people like the way they look.

Can we stop with these threads please? An "I don't understand how popularity works" type of thread pops up on here almost every week, lol

But I hope you got your answer ~

All my dreamies are villagers I bonded with in WW, or sometimes I just had them in NL and was heartbroken when they left, or there are scenarios like with Lucky, I just thought he was cute and kept him. I dont choose all tier one just cuz their popular like some people. I just like the villagers I do because they're sweet/nice. For example, I met Julian once via a friend, and he was just not very nice to me. Like, he was polite, but....just kinda cold. A few weeks later, my friend got Chevre and we talked and I wanted her right away, she was so sweet and cute.

well, my dreamies are based on the animal I like the most in real life which is the fox, wolves are the closest to that! and I got really interested in deer designs in the game that's why I have deer also :)

I honestly didn't know Dreamies were even a thing until I joined this forum. I have a few, but really they are villagers I had in my initial New Leaf town or from previous games. I agree with what the majority of people have said though, it's all a matter of preference and in the short two or three months I've been here I've seen the tier lists shift around quite a bit.

Only Dreamie of these "The ones I see the most are Meringue, Marshall, Diana, and Rosie." is Diana, lol. I don't like the others. Also not many people like my Dreamie known as Eunice. :( Anyways Dreams can have multiple villagers, just like you might dream about 100 Julians. lol

To be honest I chosed my dreamies way before knowing some of them are pretty darn popular (like Fang, Apollo, Fuchsia etc). In my opinion what make these villagers popular is because they attract lots of people, not the contrary. We all just have similar taste xD
For example why on the earth is Ankha popular!!??? That cat is..........whatever.

Since dialogue gets repetitive with the nature of the villager, it's up to design for choosing (though I have had Colton say a couple things that no other smug has said, and I thought Diana was more true to "snooty" than Purrl or Blaire and took longer to warm up to the player; I've run into a couple other little quirks in dialogue as well).

Lolly was one of my starter residents; besides liking her for her laid-back and friendly normal personality, I like cats...and she's a gray tabby just like my cat IRL.
Skye I had to have because of her design; my furry character is a cyan wolf, and Skye is a cyan wolf...so that's why I picked her.

Tiers don't matter to me; I have a few lower tiered villagers (like Henry), and my last couple dreamies are also considered bottom tier (Bangle and Hamphrey).

I did have Rosie in my town for a little while because I thought she was cute...but then she insulted Skye (and I actually took screenshots of their conversation), so I let her leave.
Similarly with Chief (whom I invited in because he looked like a fox), who teased me at one point by asking if I was going to run and cry (never had any other cranky say that to me), so out he went.

Beau is really adorable, so I can understand why people would want him (I wanted either him or Erik at one point). The only reason I decided against either of them is because they're lazy personalities...and out of the limited dialogue given for each personality, lazy is one of the most repetitive (at least, in my experience). They're cute and I like the child-like mentality, but it's just too dull talking to them.

Really, though, Lolly is the only Tier 1 villager I have in my village (as Skye was recently moved to Tier 2).
