Why are the mouse villagers so disliked?

I have Chadder as a permanent villager on my island and I just adore him! He’s just the cutest little cheese mouse

I like them just fine. I find quite few them cute.

They don't look pleasing to me, their models aren't really cute/adorable to be honest, and their faces for me are weird looking... I mean I don't mind getting one as a random move in but I personally wouldn't invite them to my island cuz they just don't do it for me, there are way cuter species than the mice and I think that's the reason why they aren't popular, they tend to get overshadowed...

EDIT;; so I browsed the mice villagers and I forgot Rod exists ooopsss! He's the only mouse I'll ever invite on my island but the others... Hard pass...

And yeah to kind of answer the thread topic, I like the mouse villagers, but I think one of the reasons why they ain't that great is because of how many weird designs they gave the mice. Like, do we even have a normal mouse besides Dora and Samson?

I don't dislike them, really. But there are so many villagers that I want to try that they just got pushed down the list somewhere. Maybe eventually I'll move one in? Some of them look pretty nice. I actually had Limberg in my campsite not too long ago and he did look like a funny villager to have around...

I don't think there are a lot of mice that I like. The only one that comes to mind is Rod. He's adorable. I had him in NL and I loved him.

I think the mice villagers are hit or miss but not nearly as bad as people make them out to be. imo they do have some great designs (rod, bree, moose and broccolo come to mind) but I will agree there are some not so good ones, would I have one on my island? I wouldn't go out of my way for one of the ones I listed but I'd be fine with them as a random move in for sure

I'm mostly just not a huge fan of most of their designs! I like mice so wish they had done the species justice haha. I also ~despise~ Moose. That being said, everyone is worthy of love so I'm glad there are people out there who like him!

I actually think that mice are cute because of the egg-shaped head and big ears. I really like Bettina, Rod, Bree, and Greta, I think their designs are good.

'cuz most have really lame designs, man. I'd rather have an animate mound of **** slithering around my island as a villager, that'd at least be unique.

I'm not a fan of the designs of the mouses in the game. Their ears are soooo big and their expressions are mostly strange too.

i genuinely don’t understand dislike for the mice because i find them so adorable!! i currently have bree and broccolo in my town, i got them both on purpose and they are never leaving. i also think rod, bella, and penelope are adorable. not sure what’s not to like about them? they’re tiny and cute and have big adorable ears? i personally far prefer mice to some other species which are more popular, such as wolves and hamsters.

I think they are pretty unique thanks to their Headshape and even tho I don’t like some of them, I think they work as a species. I will protect this mouse boy with all my might, especially, after he gifted me a real Painting that one day.

I also like Bree, Dora, Chadder and Samson and I find the backstory of Rizzos Design also pretty interesting.

I like many of the designs. Chadder, Greta, Dora and Rizzo are my favourite mice. I like mouse villagers more than gorilla, hippo and pig villagers. Many of the designs are a hit or miss to me but of course I can see why many do not like them. Many of the designs could have been flushed out more or scraped entirely

Honestly, I really hate the way mouse villagers look in this game. I think it's just their really long heads and massive ears that throw me off, they just look really silly imo. It's a shame as well, because they could've looked a lot better if they'd went for a more thin or understated design, like the mice from "The Great Mouse Detective" (great movie btw) or even like Jerry from, well, Tom & Jerry lol. Even if I disregard the strange body shape though, I still feel like this game done the Mice species dirty. The designs are all really out of place or just straight up weird, like Limberg, Moose and Bella. The only one I can say is kind of alright is Chadder, since he has a simple but unique design and theme.
