I feel weird when my villager tells my alt or friends that he/she came from xx island so I only strictly look for my own villagers. I have no interest in Raymond (so that helps). I'm sure there's many like me, just wanna get a sense.

honestly i prefer looking on islands but if i can't find who i'm looking for after awhile i'll buy them ☆

I've only adopted one villager so far, the rest I either found on islands or moved them in with their amiibo card.
I don't really mind my villager telling how they moved to my island, but they don't seem talk about it as much as they did in new leaf where they would talk about dreams they had of their past island or sing their old town tune.

I only island hunt or take campers now. I bought Stitches for a very fair price before, and it kinda cemented in how much more enjoyable it is to run into a dreamie or desired villager on an island. It took me in the ball park of 1400 - 1500 tickets to finally find Lucky, and it felt incredible when I finally found that lazy dog. :)

I had a surprise move-in from a trade I did and, even though it wasn’t some horrible event, I would still rather invite someone from an island or the campsite.

Alice, my surprise villager, has only mentioned her old island once. That is a bit different from back in New Leaf, unless I’m misremembering, when they would talk about their old towns occasionally. I really don’t miss hearing about their old adventures in Hyrule/Lavender Town/mochi/insert other tired village name here.

I haven't bought any villagers yet, and I don't really island hop either. I think all except maybe 1 has been random move-in. I get villagers from peoples voids because I do a lot of trading, but it doesn't really bother me. I'm not a fan of the whole having a list of dreamies that I collect then keep forever. Personally, it ruins the charm for me because that's never how it went for me when I first started playing (WW days).

Never played NL, man that woulda suck more!

me! i’ve made a rule for myself that i’m not allowed to buy or trade for the villagers i want - i have to find them myself whether it’s on an island tour or in the campsite ;u;

Me, just because I like the element of randomness. Island hopping is nice for that while you can still vito undesirables haha.

I soooo feel this.

For practicality's sake I chose not to apply my self-made rule to all of my very specific villager roster, however I committed from Day 1 to the epic quest of finding my favourite, Apollo, through regular gameplay.

I've been to hundreds of islands on my search for him, so far, but I'm not giving up any time soon! To be honest, I've found the quest super fun, haha. It's going to feel so satisfying when I finally meet him again...

I don't wanna buy any villagers bc I already got most of my dreamies as amiibos and I want to find the rest on my own.
Only missing Kiki now, my chances of finding her aren't very great haha, I think about 0.12% for island hopping 😿

Same as you! I dont invite villagers from others because i want to make sure they are original. I dont want to end up with them wearing weird clothes or have messy houses or things like that. I know that there are shops that are dedicated to selling villagers and make sure to keep them original so if i ever end up getting an online membership, i might look into one of those since i hear now villagers dont keep talking about their old islands forever.

I do prefer the idea of getting all the villagers I want on my own. If it takes a super long time and I'm having terrible luck, I may cave and get amiibo cards though
