i hate that i’m forgetful because this happens. i have 2 characters and when i check the dressing room with villager #1, i’d buy the other items with villager #2 (for storage purpose too) but sometimes i forget. and sometimes on rare clothing too! good thing there are plenty of nice people here to help you look for things.

i don't really buy from able. it drive me crazy buying one article at a time. i tried buy every piece once and it took forever.

I would understand your pain tho.

Yeah I would love if you could buy more than one clothing article at a time. It's sort of silly you have to back out of the change room and then go back in just to buy multiples of anything. The inconvenience makes me less likely to shop there so I usually just end up trading directly for what I want.

You can check your phone and see if it registered to your catalog. That's how I was able to check every time when I shop.

Yeah, I'm that type of person who bought everything they could see in the shops in NL. Now though, it's just too inconvenient. Yes, Mable, I want to buy everything you're offering at once, don't make me only be able to buy one outfit at a time.

i do this ALL the time too though even if it's tedious. but sometimes i just forget it, because i have to switch characters. and even so, checking my phone after i just left the dressing room takes effort omg. sometimes i forget instantly what color i just got. hate my memory.

I can't stand this aspect of purchasing clothes tbh. Personally, I love the idea of trying on clothes to see what our character looks like and the vast collection of clothes they now have given us, but only being able to buy what is on our character, limiting our purchase value, is the issue I'm having and it is a tad bit annoying.

I don't see why they simply just can't allow us to purchase whatever we wish that is available in the dressing room, without the hassle of constantly having us exiting and entering the for the umpteenth time in order to buy that new pair of jeans, while also trying on clothes?

^^^ This exactly! It's so frustrating, as I like to fill my catalogue and have to put aside an hr to buy everything when there are multiple items I need to buy in every color. There have been a number of times where I didn't have time at the moment and then forgot to go back and do it later and ended up missing out. It can be frustrating, and as much as I want to be understanding and feel like they have a good reason for the system of purchasing clothes, I don't really see how it's any better than just buying everything we want in one go.

Ahhh, you know? I have thought about the reason as to why they are going about this method of limited purchases for clothes and while I know that this may sound like perhaps that I'm making them out to be "the bad guy" here whichever way you may view this, but my initial opinionated conclusion to this came to that of, with us players not being able to buy everything at once because of how large the clothing lineup is now in availability, it then in turn allows the devs to not focus on the notion of needing to make more clothes for us players.

In other words, by not buying everything at once so that players don't get tired and ask for new clothing for every update they give due to the devs possibly not wanting to actually do that and it maybe being a hassle since offering new designs would need to be saved for another AC game in the future, it allows them to work on other projects for the game updates (though so far, every update was a rehash of what we had in NL and we didn't really have any new content...) or simply not want to be bothered by fans whining about how quickly the Able Sisters became "obselete"

In my opinion, it is possibly either that the
devs are truly not intentionally wanting to have to make new clothes for a future update and are trying to stretch out something new for players to buy every time they log on or they simply just do not want to hear the complaints of players saying "We need more new clothes!" or "I don't even go into the Able Sisters anymore what's the point since I bought everything?" kind of shtick.

Personally? Most players nowadays create their own clothing mostly now anyways as finding creators from the kiosk in the Able Sister's is a much more easier and a very grand idea, however, while I do think that the majority of fans prefer creating their own clothing as opposed to buying it unless for catalog purposes, in the end, players still can't create pants, shoes/boots/sandals or other accessories of that nature that the Able Sister's is able to provide to us with, making the Able Sister's very much relevant still no matter how you look at it.

Ahh, I guess long story short? It has to do with a bunch of variables that all tie into the many factors consisting of what the devs are trying to achieve, but overall, I feel the intention of not being able to buy as much as we want is none the more that of...a sly intention? At least, this I what I make of it.

Honestly, I could see this as being the case, or at least a part of their intention with the current purchase system. As you said, the updates thusfar have just been returning mechanics/content that we've already had in NL. They've also slowed down the upgrades for the Nooklings' store, which is another place where they're obviously trying to stretch things out and make them last a bit longer so people will keep playing.

I do find that a lot of players prefer clothing creation, and I have to say I was really, really disappointed when the game came out and I found that we still can't make pants, skirts, etc., so yes at least they'll always have that! Able Sister's gets sort of renewed each season now anyway, since they made a lot of clothing show up seasonally, which is a change I don't dislike nor do I feel was a bad choice (it makes sense realistically).

In the end, yes, by not having a more "shopping cart" approach it does make it a lot slower and stretches it out, but it also makes it a bit frustrating for the majority of players. I feel like people who want to "speedrun" cataloguing all of the Able Sisters clothing will still end up doing it, they'll just have to waste more time and get frustrated along the way, so it will only end up handicapping people with less patience/don't care enough to waste the time.

It's annoying, but I will by clothes for an hour if I must. They should definitely have a shopping cart / checkout system though.

If I liked something I bought it. But I never went back and forth through the changing booth. They could had fixed the way it worked easily. Get with the times Nintendo. This isn't the early 90s anymore.

Angry Video Game Nerd did a review on Earthbound and his biggest gripe about it was how you had to go through the shopkeeper to buy one item each time. There was no bulk buying. His groans of how frustrating it was were comical. Earthbound came out in the 90s and 20 years later and they're still keeping the same formula. See a problem there?

I’ve pretty much bought all that I need from Ables for now. If I need anything else I’ll probably buy it either here or at Nookazon. I understand the feeling if you’re trying to catalog everything, though.

I fully

I fully agree with you! I personally find it very irritating that I cannot make purchases all at once for clothes I like as I am not too patient myself and constantly TTing to get the items/clithes I desire is even more a hassle! Also, you are very much so right on the Nook store ideology! I agree that they are doing the same with that aspect as well. I can see this as a definite possibility!

It does sadden me in ways though if what we just discussed about truly was the case, as that would then show laziness on Nintendo's end for not wanting to engage with the fans to give them what they want all for the end result of "But is it cost effective?" Ahhh, I am hoping that perhaps with enough voices, then the changes we fans so desire will come to fruition all but with the help of Nintendo taking charge to actually give what most fans want.

I also agree that the ux is very annoying but the game dev are not stupid, they know exactly what they do and why.
i hope they listen and fix it but i wont be surprised if they leave it on purpose,

They have a clear user pattern, the longer time u spend on things like the ables/diy etc..
the more balloons u will see in sky, then u suddenly see a fish or a butterfly next thing u notice is that u played 30 mins more then u planned, its kinda brilliant the addictions and distractions they planted in the game.
its a cruel part of the animal crossing NH echo system

I can't really post the Angry Video game Nerds review on Earthbound because he likes to cuss a lot, but if you're interested in seeing what I am referring to, just copy paste this. AVGN Earthbound review. (In that minute of the review he doesn't cuss.)

Skip to around 12:20 and watch until like 13:20. He details how excruciating the game's mechanics are about buying one single item and having to go through the shopkeep's text each time to buy the same item over and over again. And in the same year frame a game from another company was able to do the whole bulk buying thing.

I don't know if this is just a Nintendo thing and they refuse to change tradition, but it's time consuming, no one finds it fun, and it's very outdated.

I think its very dated - mostly in mobile game - like u w8 for the incline a whole day
why wouldn't u micro w8 to buy the next cloth at the ables?
I mean it makes sense, they want to u to spend the most time u can on this game..

they might change it due to complaints but nothing is by mistake.
the fact most people even those who burned out played at least 2 months of the game, shows a massive success on nintendo's side.
its not suppose to be fun, its suppose to pull u in and it works great for them.

I'm really hoping that eventually they will make some of the changes that people are griping about. In the end they know what they're doing and why, so if they want to make the change, they will! Though as you said it would really be a shame if it was intentional in such a way, in order to drag things out for the sake of making players play for longer. Fingers crossed and we'll just have to hope for the best!

This is also a very good point, it ties into what Cosmic_Crossfade was saying, so I agree completely.

I agree! Hoping is all we can do haha

reading through this, i just wanna say i also know nintendo’s intentions but at the same time it’s 2020. i wish they’d value or respect people’s time you know?

people already do invest time on ac, don’t get me wrong. we are already ranking in HOURS over games that have been out for years. i just mean they don’t have to push it in every way. sometimes we gotta evolve.

my main issue as posted on OP was just that i forget certain things because of this mechanic. therefor waiting a long time for them to appear again. i don’t even intend on buying everything at once. my storage won’t even handle it. but there’s something they can do here to make it much more comfortable.
