this might be me talking nonsense but I ADORE the robot villagers, Ribbot and Sprocket, I just love the machine theme and I think their personalities match that so well, I do find that the ostrich villagers tend to get less love. Don't get me wrong, I do love the octopus, cat and dog villagers, but I feel like they get all the attention. Blanche, Flora, Gladys and Cranston are super cute (flora and gladys making reference to other big birds I mean.... I just love them)~

Megan is pretty underrated, she's such a sweetheart, but gets barely any attention compared to the other new villagers.

Otherwise, the hippos getting way too much hate, they aren't that bad as most people say.

The proportions of Megan are so strange but I love her. She’s a sweetheart.

I think Bones is a really nice villager. I had him in New Leaf, but I don't think that he is very popular.

for real i love a majority of the elephant villagers, which always caught me off guard cuz i thought they would be on the same tier as the hippos or rhinos, but they're all real cute or cool, and cyd is no exception.
also, i know this wasn't really in the question, but harvey is legitimately my favorite npc besides nook and kk. i'm a huge sucker for hippy characters lmfao

Some people mention Hornsby as being bland but I think he's really adorable.

Wade for the same reasons as Hornsby: he is adorable and one of the better designed penguins, IMO.

Obsessed with the pig Pancetti. I think she is the best designed pig and together with Diana, Timbra, Soleil and Bree one of the best designed Snooties.

Cally isn't talked about much but I find her to be really cute. She reminded me a lot of someone I know in real-life with a very similar sounding name so maybe that's why, but I think she could fit into a lot towns.

Timbra is often overlooked (I rarely see anyone talking about her). I think she exudes style and is a really interesting villager.

GASTON!!!! The shock new obsession for me. I think he is the epitome of crankiness in the best of ways. If you want a recluse with a unique house and tons of personality (I can imagine him as a person), look no further!

Claude. He has such a hilarious expression on his face. I chuckle every time I see him. If I weren't so set on only one villager per species he would be on my island, without a doubt. I didn't actually care for him at all until I saw a twitter video of him, Hamphrey and Rocket performing K.K. Metal on someone's island. It was such a hodgepodge mixture of weirdness but I loved it.

Also, I’d like to say Broccolo. He looks like a tiny child and that’s TOO CUTE! Like he’d beat me in any and all games of minecraft. He gets so excited to see me on my island, and his bowlcut is adorable. He reminds me of Will from Stranger Things. I gave him a little tricycle, too.
