When will the donation take effect?

I was on my way to 200k bells, and when i finally reached it, i donated it all towards the bridge. Then nothing happened, does the bridge just appear? did i do something wrong? I was wondering if anybody could tell me when will the bridge appear.

you vote where it appears the next day at the townhall(it'll say so on the bulliten board)
Vote the location and it'll be somewhere the next week.
