I’m so tired of the prices the new villagers get sold for and I was wondering when you guys thought the new cards/figures will be released?

No one can say really. They haven't even been confirmed to date.

I doubt anytime soon.

Overtime, prices will stabilize. It was crazy the first few weeks/months of New Leaf, too.

With how many new villagers there are atm (compared to all the old ones that are getting reprinted), I doubt that'll happen anytime soon. The card packs would probably be mostly made up of NPCs (ie. new ones and/or NH variants of old NPCs), making it the smallest series ever.

Unless they plan to add even more villagers as the game keeps being updated with new content, they'll probably put them into some sort of "Island Getaway" themed miniseries, much like the Hello Kitty ones which always had the 6 new villagers in each pack. Either way, it doesn't seem like it'll happen anytime soon.

Probably not anytime soon as someone said, however iirc someone did say they were gonna release them for Japan at some point first and then other countries would get them later. They will probably release some amiibo figurines of the new NPCs as well cuz Nintendo loves to pump them out. I would actually up to buying an amiibo figurine of the dodos.

From what I read, Japan is getting REreleases of the original cards, not new ones.

A new series wouldn’t happen, I’d guess, until after the game is out a year or so. We have eight new islanders, a handful of new NPCs, and a new card set could include even more new islanders as well as returning favorites, easily making another fifty card pack like series five.

yeah, this is basically what I'm expecting

since barring recycling old ones (which I could see for a few like nook with his current outfit, but not for every villager), there's right now not even close enough for a new set proper. unless they just did like the sanrio set and released some 2 cards per pack dealie with 1 new villager and 1 new special npc (instead of iirc 1 sanrio themed character and 1 sanrio crossover sitcker)

though, if I can also bit nitpicky af, the welcome amiibo set isn't series 5 but a completely separate new line. as all of the card designs, individual card ids and official product name confirms. hardly matters, since we all know what you mean, but I'm just very particular about this

Well.... I call it series five because it’s the fifth series of cards and did the same thing. We got fifty “new“ animals added to the game. If they had been retreads of animals from the first four series, I’d be more inclined to call it separate, but it was an add on. I do wish they had just made them in the same style as the other cards, though.
