When&if do you think the new animal crossing will come out

...What new Animal Crossing game? Did they make an announcement I missed?

I mean, if we're talking a main series game, I'm guessing not for YEARS since ACNH is still brand new. There were approximately seven years between ACNL and ACNH so... at least five years would be my guess. Especially since they're doing frequent updates.
As for a new console, I'm guessing eventually but, again- not for years. Unless we're talking a different version of the Switch. The Switch has been super popular, I don't see why they'd put effort into making anything new right now, when they could be working on new games for an already popular system.

My guess is in about 5-6 years, probably on the next-gen version of the Switch. People seem to forget that Animal Crossing skipped the Wii U for a reason - it wasn't a successful console. I doubt we'll have to wait another 8 years for the next game. Although, it of course depends on how many years they intend on supporting New Horizons as well. Looking like 2 years of support.

I actually think it could be sooner than expected, but I would say 2023 at the earliest.

I think the general belief in the video game world is that we are about halfway into the Switch's lifespan, so we probably won't seen a new Nintendo console until 2023.

That said, New Horizons has sold incredibly well and established Animal Crossing as one of the Nintendo pillar franchises alongside Mario, Zelda, and Pokemon. I do think it's possible (though not guaranteed) that the next Nintendo console launches with an Animal Crossing game.

I also read somewhere that the switch is intended to be around 7-10 years or something like that and we're in the halfway point. It's definitely going to be another few years or so before the next one is even thought of.

I hope in like 5 years but more realistically probably in like... a decade..

A new version would probably come out in 2028-2030 since Nintendo has released that they would be supporting the game for 3 years or so.
As for console, 2024-2025

I think in about 4 years. I think like others said before, the increased popularity of the franchise due to this game and the mobile app helps in a sense speed up the frequency they will release games. It is like a cashcow now.

Because new horizons did so good i think the next game will take less time than new leaf to new horizons did. Breath of the wild did incredibly and because of that its getting a sequel so surely nintendo would be eager to make a new animal crossing game to add to the even move beloved franchise.
I do think it'll still take a while though. 4 to 5 years at the least

I'd say in 6-7 years(looking back at the previous titles). I don't think it would come out in say, 2023 because the creators said that they would put out updates for the next 3 years.

Probably in the next four years. I'm only going off the fact that Animal Crossing came out in 2001 and Wild World came out four years later, and that City Folk came out in 2008 and New Leaf came out four years later. If you ignore the spin-offs, it took eight years for New Horizons to come out.

In 5-6 years or longer, or if a new system is introduced that time, then there’s a possibility.

Nintendo already said that New Horizons will be supported for years. And only one main Animal Crossing game is developed for every Nintendo console. So I's say still 4-5 years.

tbh i kind of hope it's a long while. im a bit peeved by how quickly new games are pushed out for franchises now. even the regularity of expansions for some mmos kinda freak me out too, but i guess its always been something like, "games are made across multiple years and finished in significantly less time than that."

edit: i forget to type out words sometimes is that normal

I’m thinking somewhere on the next seven years, depending if a new Nintendo console will be released. So far, aside from spinoffs, there’s only one animal crossing game released on each system with the wii u being skipped. And since New Horizons will still get updates in the near future, it could take a long while before the developers move on to make the next game.

lmao the way i went ??? reading this bc i thought i missed out on some announcement that there's another installment in the series.

i mean nh is only 3 months old and they've mentioned that there are plans to have updates that will last at least 3-4 years after initial release. so that leads to highly unlikely that there's any new game in the works.
it just wouldn't make sense when there's so much that can still be done + added to nh.

I personally think 6–10 years, because it looks like ACNH and the Switch are immensely popular compared to previous games and consoles (looking at Wii U... and even 3DS since that didn't do so well at the start) so they'll want to support it for a while. Also, I think with Animal Crossing games being HD now and more content-heavy it may take longer than Wii games for example to develop. But, maybe without spinoffs and other projects (ACPC, Splatoon) it could be quicker?
I don't really know but I really hope it's not more than 7/8 years again, I'm not really a fan of thinking about the distant future lol

there was a 7-8 year gap between new leaf and new horizons (new leaf came out in 2012 in japan) so i imagine the wait for the next game will close to a decade also. but i'm hoping with the popularity of the franchise it will come sooner than that.

They should already be working on the next game. If you make a successful product, you don't just sit around and admire it; you start working on the next big thing. Even though they're going to be supporting ACNH for months or years, they probably already have a lot of the upcoming content ready to go and are slowly releasing it by design. It's also not as much of an undertaking to add content to an existing game as it is to develop a new game, so I'd imagine there are some resources available to at least conceptualize what the next game will be like. The gap between NL and NH is likely mostly due to the Wii U being a flop and Nintendo deciding to punt on making a Wii U AC game. If Nintendo doesn't screw up the next system, I'd anticipate things staying on track and getting another game in 4-5 years. Since the Switch doubles as both a console and handheld, I wouldn't rule out another AC game for the Switch either.
