Like the question above, when do you feel you need to part with your town and start from scratch? I feel conflicted, because I don't want to loose my all my progress I put twords my current, however, at the same time I want to start a town with an actual theme. I could buy another copy, but I don't really feel like spending another 30 bucks on another town just for my dream town. What do you guys think?
If you're not overly attached to your badges then I'd reset. I got a whole new lease on life for my town when I reset. I do have several (due to family members ditching their copies) and so I have it easier, but I still reset 2 of them and am so glad I did. I got the layouts I wanted and have one town now for my Main and one more for trading back and forth and for holding my dreamies until I can transfer them. I also like the freedom to have a town moving towards a theme.
So yeah, if you're bored or unhappy with your layout, I'd reset. You can always get your badges back.
I depends how attached you are to your town/villagers. I was considering resetting my main town, but I then ended up getting a second copy instead. And I am so glad I didn't reset, because I'm ridiculously attached to Primrose and its villagers.
And having a second copy made me remember how hard it is to start from the beginning >.<
I'll never reset my main town, but having a second copy is nice because I feel like I can reset anytime I want and not feel bad (or too bad anyway) about it.
I sometimes think about it since I've never done it before and I look back on all the mistakes I made in the beginning of the game that affected parts of my town now. However, I then think about how much I've accomplished and how much progress I have. If I had reset in the beginning like 1 month into it like I originally was planning to do, I probably should have done it because I barely made any progress and I wasn't really attached/interested in the game yet.
Now though I doubt I'd reset at all. I've completed all of Main Street shops. I have one more dreamie to get before I have my perfect town. I have at least one of each of the badges (Holy crap if I have to start over with Streetpass, I'll scream!). I think about how much effort it would take to transfer every rare item I have to someone I trust. I would like to reset, but then again I wouldn't. It's my first ever town, I kinda don't wanna reset. Plus, I have awesome grass, native fruit, town layout, villagers, and just everything, it's just not worth it for me.
You do have another option for purchasing the game though. Instead of buying it for $30, you can go on amazon/ebay and buy a second hand copy, I remember seeing one for $15.
I reset if my town just suddenly slopes downhill, gets rid of dreamies, has villagers like Quillson in it and when the fun gets taken away from my town. So I usually if I haven't reset after 8 months of starting up, I probably will stay with my town from there on out.
I've personally never felt like that, there always seems plenty to do! I'm working on my gold badges now that my town is complete. If I ever want to mix things up, I do some landscaping or change the PWPs, or look for a new villager.
Probably never. I thought of resetting my town when a dreamie moved out, it wasn't like just loosing Pietro, my town was already completed which means that I had four characters with full closets and furnished houses, all my dreamies and my town layout was finished. It was really hard to decide what to do but in the end I just deleted a character, saved everything that was in the house and placed the new villager near where the house of the one who left was because of the paths. It was pretty expensive but I realised that I didn't want to loose everything I owned , my badges and a pretty town layout. So this is why I prefer to keep my town
Hmm... I have reset before, my old town (A place btw) and it was very hard to get all the items I lost, PWPs and villagers. However I hated my layout putting unmemorable pwps in places I didnt want to. I am seriously considering doing it again, but this time I would def have to let someone hold my stuff for me -.-
I've thought about resetting before, but I just like my town and my villagers too much. My map isn't perfect but I can live with it, and I think it's more fun for me to try to work around its flaws. I also really like the history I have with my town. I'd only reset if all of the villagers I love moved out or something equally annoying.
Of course, everyone is different. Some people reset because they're unhappy with what they've done with their game so far, their map, or their villagers. Others reset because they need a change after accomplishing so much. It just depends on what each person likes about the game.
Maybe you could buy a used copy of the game? They tend to be cheaper than new ones, if all you want is to have a theme town.
I never really put much thought into it. If I want to reset, I reset. If I'm conflicted about it, I wait until I have a firmer decision made. While it's true that I put a lot of work and effort into my towns, it's still just a game to me, and I can always re-accomplish everything, so that's never an issue.
I sometimes feel like wanting to restart and try something new with the town being mayor...like changing my town name because I actually want something new.. Hell can't change that. And don't want to spend money on the game exact game because that's just a waste. But it would be dumb now because I've put in about 2000+ hours just working on all golden badges.. So that's a no for me. =P
