What to do with big, open spaces?

I have a few really large areas that are pretty barren, my second town especially. Once I'm done moving out the last two villagers and plot resetting the ones I move in, there will be a huge quarter of my map that has nothing at all in it and I'm not sure what to do with it. I already have a tree area (put in a little row where the river makes my map narrow) so I don't need that...so I'm not sure what to do. I could make a park but that seems over-done.

What else can be done besides a park in a big area?

The area where the X is is what I'm talking about with a huge open space. That whole strip of land from the bridge all the way to the bottom is empty. I was thinking of putting the campsite there later on, but other than that I just don't know. I hardly have any PWPs right now because my town is still so new.


My final three houses I was planning on putting in a row next to my player houses in the middle, so I'm not worried about that space, it's just the space on the lower right I'm worried about.

A sp00py graveyard! First, clear out everything: flowers, trees, bamboo, and run over all of the grass until it's dirt. Put some of those stone-grave looking pwps in there in a line/organized fashion, and maybe have some presents or flowers in front of them. Then plant some perfect fruit and shake them all out until they're empty so it looks like dead trees. To finish it up, plant some black hybrids (to simulate dead flowers) and a few patterns like a cobble path, and bam. Sp00py graveyard. I plan on making one behind re-tail soon after I clean out my town.

I always put a bench or arrange flowers into a pattern to deal with empty spaces.

you could also make a fossil dig site! if you assess a fossil and it's already in your museum, bury it to add it to the dig site! it'd help to put a pwp sign near it so people know what it is ^^'

That's a cute idea. I can see that being like a fun little thing for visitors too. Maybe even make a game out of it, like 'whoever finds this fossil first wins a prize' or something.

I like your map. It would look cool with the campsite, a log bench and fire pit there. Maybe a few tree stumps as well. You could make it a fun, little rustic hangout. I'd want to visit a place like that! LOL

Thank you, I reset for a few days to get that map and it's not even my main town haha. I don't have the log bench of fire pit pwps, sadly. I don't know if any of my villagers would request those. I'm going for all cats so there's not much variety in personalities.

you could dedicate that are to growing hybrid flowers- its far enough form the villagers that they would be less likely to wander around in there messing up the flower beds, and its far enough from your train station that a hostile visitor couldn't just grab some and run.

Hmm, I did consider that, though I do have a section dedicated to hybrids in my main town...but I don't see why I couldn't do both. I could just grow different hybrids. That's an idea.

When I used to play WW with friends regularly we used to have scavenger hunts. The rules were you could only dig up 3 things and you couldn't swap them for other things. Having a little dig site there would be fun for your visitors and dream visitors!

I'm actually making it a cat town, which I'm starting to regret because I don't know what to do with it really. I made my houses kind of cat-themed inside but I'm not sure about pwps that'll be relevant.

Katt(imaginative name,eh?) is an uchi cat.I had a big space in my duck town so I did something similar to what Dorian did in her town.Quillson gave me all of the big smug PWPs so I made them into a "historical district" with the pyramids,Sphinx,Stonehenge and the moai statue...oh,and Bill's head.
