I want to start a new game before I leave for camp next monday... But stuck between two games I've never played

Bioshock infinite and Far Cry3

I have played bioshock 1 and part of 2, never played Far Cry... opinions?

I never saw the appeal with Bioshock.

I never liked Far Cry either. I hated the first two, but I picked up Far Cry 3 for cheap and was pleasantly surprised! It was just so fun running around with a bow and stealth killing everything. Plus there were plenty of things in the environments that could be used to your advantage that weren't just the usual exploding barrels, plus things in the environment itself such as tigers. It was just really cool that you could approach most encounters in a variety of different ways.
It's one of the few games I enjoyed just 'exploring' as well since since 'random encounters' can happen, such as minding your own business whilst looking for collectibles and getting attacked by random wild boars. It's one of the very few games that I've bothered to play after completing the story and got the platinum trophy for it just because it was fun.

My only complaint is that QTE's were a thing and were sometimes used at certain points in a way I really dislike...But the rest of the game was good enough for me to consider that a very minor issue, plus they weren't really that many QTE's, it's just 'where' they were used that makes me remember them.

Bioshock Infinite is faster. The story is good (except for the confusing ending). I was a little disappointed about the game though. I had been following it for a long time waiting patiently delay after delay and I beat the game within two days. I was expecting it to last longer than that. I have yet to play Burial at Sea. I need to try that soon.

...what. They're both about the same. And for being recent AAA titles, they both last a surprising amount of time.

Bioshock Infinite takes 12 hours, on average, to finish the main story. 26~ hours for everything the base game offers. Tack on another 3-6 hours for each of the Burial at Sea DLC, and 7 hours for the Clash in the Clouds DLC.
Far Cry 3 takes 16 hours for the main story (not a huge difference), and 37 hours completionist. +9 hours for Blood Dragon.

tl;dr they both offer a good 50 hours with DLC, 30-40 without, depending on how you play. The only difference is how linear Bioshock is.. owait, FC3 was, too. =p

Regardless.
I voted for Bioshock Infinite. As much as I loved the first, Infinite was probably my favorite in the series... if not a very close tie. If you suffered through the crap that was B2, you should definitely give Infinite a go next, and round out the series and the story. It's well worth it; more-so if you cared about the story at all. Burial at Sea kind of ties everything together.

Far Cry was fun but only okay to me. Bioshock Infinite has...problems, but the first 45 minutes of it are the most beautiful and immersive. It's a decent, fun playthrough overall, with a partially interesting premise. I would go for Infinite, especially if you've already played the other Bioshock games.

I actually never played Far Cry 3. I just figured since it has side quests, more of an open area to explore, and multiplayer that someone would spend more time on it. Bioshock Infinite has some mini side stuff, but I don't know if I would call them quests. I didn't count the DLC since they didn't mention it. Of course, one could always replay Infinite and attempt the 1999 mode.

I'll probably attempt to rebeat Infinite this summer because it's been awhile. I started the 1999 mode, but I don't know if I'll continue it or not. I do like a challenge, however, I can imagine that mode being a time sucker if I follow through with the whole thing.

The side quests were mostly just quick things like "take the outpost" though which there aren't really that many of and don't take long to do, with most of that stuff being things you'll likely drive past/through and decide to do during the story as well.
Plus pretty much everything gets marked on your map as well, so collectibles are really quick and easy to find, especially since most of them are just hanging around quite close to each other and easy to get to.
