I lost one of my dreamies, Merengue. I was heartbroken when I found out she was moving, and I still am, but I'm happy that she went to a good home (btw thank you atoyume for adopting her). :)

So anyway, now I'm wondering what to do. I have two options I can think of. They are:

To get a different villager as a dreamie

or:

Wait for sixteen villagers to move in and out.

There are some pros and cons for each.

For just getting a different dreamie, I don't have to wait, but I will be missing out on a villager I truly love. Though that's not to say I won't love the other dreamie I choose.

On the other hand, while cycling will assure me getting Merengue back, it is a very long process unless I Time Travel, which runs the risk of losing other dreamies.

I do know that ultimately it's my choice, but I think your guy's input could help me decide. :)

What do you think I should do? What would you do?

That's a tough one that I think only you could decide. It depends on whether another dreamie will be able to fill Merengue's place in your town w/o you dwelling on the fact that she isn't there. If not, then cycling might be the way to go.

Sorry to hear you lost one of your dream villagers! That's too bad :( but I'm glad she went to a good home, that is some comfort.

What you could do is, go on to the ACNL wiki page, and make a long list of all the villagers you like the look of and would quite like to meet (I personally have way more than 10!!). Then you could use Merengue's old spot to meet new villagers, and perhaps you might find one that you decide to keep as a new dreamie, or let them move when they ask. That way it's half cycling and half looking for a new dreamie, plus you get to meet some new faces!

That's actually a really good idea! I could look for some villagers (without them necessarily being a dreamie), and if I really like them, they can be permanent, but if I don't like them enough to be permanent (that's not to say I won't like them) that much, I could let them go to a better home. I think I might just do this.

Thanks for the advice. :)

You're very welcome! I find it a fun way to play, because you get to meet new villagers and you're also effectively cycling at the same time, so you're still progressing toward getting Merengue back if you decide to in the future! It's win win. But one of those new villagers may surprise you and be perfect for your town :D That would be exciting.

In my town I have 7 dream villagers, and 3 spaces to meet new ones, I really enjoy it. I hope you enjoy meeting some new neighbours :-)
