I want to pack my house full of awesome stuff for an upcoming gaming convention. My goal is to help lots of people order missing items from their catalogs. What sorts of things would you be excited to see in your Happy Home Showcase?
So far I've got a house plant/bonsai collection and a musical instrument room.
My only advice, don't block the halls into other rooms (it's my pet peeve with street pass houses) and don't customise anything because they won't be able to order it.
Try to complete a set or two in each room. That's what I'm intending to try to do for a convention later this year.
I think a real themed house would be awesome. I want kitchen furniture, classic furniture, citrus furniture, sweet treats furniture, and maybe kiddie or rococo furniture.
I like it when people have a complete set or regional dlcs in their house, although I like just seeing what other people's style is. It is fun to look at a unique house.
*snrk* Getting streetpassed by a house full of balloons would be hilarious. Sounds like a worthy long-term goal but for this convention, I'll stick to uncustomized, reorderable furniture. XD
Full sets make sense. I only have complete sets of modern wood, sleek, and rococo at the moment but I'll try trading to get more in Retail. I seem to see a lot of people making cafe themed rooms so maybe kitchen stuff would make people happy too? Most regional DLCs look crazy expensive on the forums but maybe I can afford a couple. I wouldn't have thought of bathrooms but I suppose that must be why they'd be so interesting to see?
Thank you for the ideas so far! I hope with a bit of effort I can make someone's AC day with these suggestions!
I love when houses have re-ordable themes or furniture sets. You already have a great and wonderful thing with the plant/bonsai collection and musical instruments, so to top it off just add a completed furniture set. And if you want to make a room into a specific thing like a bathroom or kitchen even having those items that make up the room would make a person's day since the game is random in what it gives but you have it right there for them.
People usually have their basement as something absolutely bizarre. The rest of their home would just be normal, then their basement would be like some horror-typed thing or just really weird. I love getting these kind of houses. They catch me off guard every time. xD
I'm pretty sure people love when you have a bunch of rare stuff (like DLC, full furniture sets, rare items, etc.)
It's also good if you make everything (or mostly everything) in a room match (colors, theme, set, etc.)
I've heard that some people get annoyed when they experience commonly made rooms (like Japanese, Nintendo, mermaid, etc.)
Customized furniture can be cool too since you give your home a unique feeling, it's just that some people might get annoyed if it's something they'd really want to order
1) What makes a great StreetPass house for ordering stuff? Avoid remade items and non-orderable items, because those just sit there and taunt you because you can't order them. The things I like the best are rare (but still orderable) items (such as DLC or holiday items) and when people make rooms that have full sets of something so I can get everything (or complete my set if I have only part of it).
2) What makes a great StreetPass house for looking interesting? Don't make all Nintendo, all balloon, all gyroid, all mermaid, all ice, all Pave, or all egg rooms. It's not just the inability to order that's the problem. It's the fact that you see them all the time. When you get StreetPass house after StreetPass house that the rooms look all the same, it takes away the special factor of those sets and makes everything predictable and boring. Granted, this is based on Street Passing in Japan. Outside of Japan, you probably don't see some of those things as often. But I hate those. I'd rather see a house full of all remade stuff that I can't order than a Nintendo or egg room, because at least it looks different.
I got a whole room filled with DLC which I like to imagine will make people I streepass happy. I even got a sign from the main room pointing to it so people don't miss out.
