What is your preferred way of getting bells?

Fossils, fishing & bug catching mainly, I’m always busy on a weekend so tend to miss the chance to buy turnips anyway

i also nearly have all the fossils so i just get the ones i dug up, take em down to the museum, get blathers to assess them, take the assessed fossils to re-tail and sell them

Beetle farming at night on Tortimer Island is the most easy and fast way!

plant an insane amount of palm trees on the island and beetle farm, I don't even enjoy it that much but I go so often

I try not to do it too often or it starts to feel like a chore, but beetle hunting on the island is oddly fun to me. Once you learn how to do it, you can get a lot of bells quickly. Shark/island fishing is also fun. Another way I used to make bells, but stopped doing since beetles are more profitable, was to go on a tour and pick all of the fruits and repeat. It was also a good way to get all of the island fruits to my town when I was first starting.

I've started following other people's advice about hunting beetles on the island, and I decided to expand on that:

Step 1 - Go to the Island. I did it at night, but there will be valuable bugs during the day too (cough cough Birdwing butterfly cough cough).
Step 2 - Catch as many bugs and fish as you can. It probably wouldn't hurt to nab some fruits while you're there too. The Island has plenty of rare bugs and fish.
Step 3 - Profit.

I did most of my money diving for sea creatures. I learnt to distinguish (by the bubbles) which creature sales for the highest price and make sure I only catch those that pay the most. I go into the sea with nothing in my pockets and come out with all my pockets filled. I usually make over 100k+ on every trip.

Something else I forgot to say: Every season has different creatures in the sea so it’s good to familiarize yourself with which creatures pay the most on each season and catch those creatures again the bubbles are a huge help on knowing which creatures are good and which ones are bad. For those creatures that are hard to catch and make you swim “forever” (usually the ones that pay the most bells) the trick is to swim above water and make that creature go against the net (swimming vertically not parallel to the net) and once the creature gets to the net it can’t move then you dive and grab it.

I love raiding Tortimer Island for palm tree bugs and rare fish! And I should be able to start going tomorrow!

if i was ever in a pinch or needed bells fast, i'd use tortimer's island! like many others have posted i loved planting extra trees on the island and then waiting until the pricier beetles came out to farm them. i'd alternate between doing that and fishing for sharks on the island's shore!
