What is your opinion on plot resetting?

Title. Just curious about what everyone thinks about it here. I personally use to be in the group where I felt it wasn't really a fun part of the game since it's technically an exploit, so I never really did it. I only did it for Skye, as she's my #1 villager. I've always been fond of having her house beside mine, so I would plot reset her house.

But with the Welcome Amiibo update adding in the function where villager's houses would no longer plot their house on a pattern, it essentially gave you an in-game feature closely resembling plot resetting, so my opinion on it has changed as I'm now able to use in-game features to manipulate it. Granted I'm not very fond of placing down all those patterns every two tiles, lol. u_u

My villagers have plotted on patterns, even though I had left 3x3 plots where others had lived before, so I feel plot resetting is essential (for me) for peace of mind.

If you like to landscape your town I just find it to be a necessity. If they sold more than one tree or bush a day it would be one thing, but a villager can easily take out 6 trees, bushes, hybrid flowers, etc. I get that the game is supposed to be slow paced but I wouldn't want to just play day by day, gather all those landscaping materials and plant them just to have a villager plot right over the top of it. So it's a necessity to me. I realllllly wish that you could just choose where the villager goes though, have it set up like a new pwp, Isabelle just says "hey this person's moving here tomorrow, help me chose a spot!" lol

I've been plot resetting ever since but I like it more after the amiibo update. It becomes easier and convenient. I leave 3x3 spot/s open but still plot reset the next day.

I'm not /super/ picky about where my villagers plot for the most part, but I've been plot resetting my amiibo move-ins lately just so they don't move anywhere too awkward, ever since Raddle moved his house in front of one of my beach ramps

But even if they do pick weird spots I try to not let it bother me too much and just try to work around them, I feel like it ruins the game for me if I stress myself out trying to get them to plot in perfect spots every time.

I've just taken to strategically placing tiles on the side of my town where I don't want houses. I don't plan on plot resetting any houses from here on out except amiibo move-ins. I'm just too lazy lol and the tile way works better for me.

Pretty much how I go around with it these days. I often feel it's more fun to landscape a town based on the randomness when a villager moves in. You can often make a lot of unique paths around your town doing this. However this new town I started these year will have ten villagers I want to get throughout the year, and I do want a couple of them in specific spots... the first being Skye, who lives directly beside me.

But for now, I have patterns down where I don't want villagers to move in on (where I want campsite and in front of my house and beach ramps, mostly). Otherwise villagers are free to move where ever they want to move in. XD

Edit: granted I don't own any amiibo cards since they're super hard to come by in my area and are incredibly expensive to buy whenever you find a pack in store, and whenever I see one I want online, they're like 20 bucks a card..

It happened 100% of the time to me, so I didn't know otherwise. It was only when I started to TT that I realized that if I TT on the day I ask someone to move in and out, they will plot their house elsewhere. Lol, happy chance knowing this.

For the most part, they'll plot where the previous house was but you can reset them to other areas, it just takes a bit of time from what I've heard.

Ever since I learned it's a thing I've plot resetted every villager in both my towns. I feel that if they moved right in front of my house (or town hall, or retail, or in top of hybrids... so many things can go wrong lol) I'd come to hate them very quickly, so it's a pain but in the end it really pays off.

Best way to prevent them from moving in front of your house is to put a pattern every two tiles like this:

XOOX

And so on. That leaves no 3x3 grid for them to plot a house. I've pretty much done this surrounding my house and the train station, as well as other areas I don't want villagers to plot.

they will plot on patterns if there?s not enough space in other acres. maybe that?s what happened to you?

i plot reset so no one will move next to my home or another building but my plots are scattered evenly around the map. not a fan of having everyone in a neat little row.

No. I had plenty of space. Nothing had changed.
A villager had lived on the spot before.

The game just disreguards it at times.

I bought the game in August 2013, here in the U.S. and from my home state Michigan, and now have ten [10] towns. And I posted the town maps here: http://www.belltreeforums.com/showt...our-Town-Map&p=7789842&viewfull=1#post7789842 .

My sixth town was the beginning of my own zoning control. This was with the amiibo update in November 2016. So, I have taken to arranging the sixth through eighth towns because it was what I wanted. But, it doesn?t mean my previous towns lack pleasure. My baby is Applewin. I started it in August 2013. And there is nothing like the first!

If you don't leave 3x3 plus one space for the front door, it doesn't work. So you really 3x3 with one more space in front/ in the middle.

And I plot reset all the time. I didn't used to, mainly because I hadn't looked into it and didn't want to mess it up, but it's essential for getting villagers exactly where you want them.

I always leave a space for the door.

It might take numerous tries, but plotting resetting saves me a lot of grief. Villagers are just dumb as dirt coding that don't understand the difference from empty space and space that is being use for a garden oasis or something of that nature.

i plot reset because i don't want to relandscape every time i switch up my villagers :') it's a pain, but it's much easier after the update so i definitely think it's worth it
