No theme at the moment but it could go either way depending on my permanent villagers. I got a lot going on and island is always under maintenance because of new ideas. It may end up either a mythical island or Japanese themed. Right now it looks more like a theme park than anything.
I feel like the closest "overused" term to describe mine would unfortunately be cottage core... This wasn't my intention going into the game, but I really do enjoy outdoorsy, natural spaces. However, since my island is based off of a real mountain town I visited on a road trip (Lake Placid, NY), there's a distinct tourist area and most of the town uses brick pathways (rather than THE path).
Other areas of my island include:
- An upper tier hiking trail
- Zen area (I needed an excuse to plant bamboo trees...)
- Celeste inspired star gazing area
- Ice cream parlour on the beach
- Outdoor cafe in front of the museum
I don’t really have a theme just a town center with brick paths on the ground floor, nature-vibes with a mushroom forest and the 2nd floor and farm-vibes on the 3rd floor lol
My island is mostly based off of my trip to Hawaii a few years ago with a few elements from the show LOST which was also filmed in Hawaii. One day I want to live in Hawaii, so I wanted my island to be a collection of my memories from my trip. As for a "theme" my island is mostly tropical and natural, with some landscaped resort areas. It also has a Japanese flare to it because the game was made in Japan.
So, I wanted to do fairy tales and I have specific stories which I had planned. HOWEVER, I got - and fell in love with so far - Hornsby and Hazel so I've decided t go with children's stories simply. Squirrels are - of course - in most princess stories so I'm able to come up with something for Hazel... I plan to have the well along with seven little gnomes outside of her house. As far as Hornsby, I'm going to incorporate the story Who Wants a Cheap Rhinoceros by Shel Silverstein. Because the story is about finding pets, his house will probably be decorated with mom's plushes as well as a hamster cage ^*^
I still haven't decided what my theme will be. Right now I think it will be a combination of mushroom forest and modern themes. After seeing how the mush set can be customized, I think I could make a lot of interesting stuff with it.
I initially planned on making an ancient ruins theme, but there aren't any ruined columns to my knowledge. At least I assume there aren't if people are using backwards fridges as a substitute.
My island theme it’s a weird little mash up of cottage vibes, forest, space, and then just random items sprawled out everywhere to try and make it look cohesive
