What is your first language?

German is my first language and it really sucks. n.n
It's really hard to learn other languages, learn the most nessecary vocabulary, grammer and pronunciation, so to stay honest, I do not really dare to say that I can speak other languages :(
I can also agree with those who have lots of problems with the right translation, it's like you have to carry always a dictionary with you to understand the most :(

English is my primary language and french is my secondary. I had to learn french, there wasnt really a choice. Half of us learned french, the other german.

Polish. Then I learned English and forgot some Polish, but I still know enough to have a conversation with someone. Currently learning Japanese.

Vietnamese.

Sadly, it's suffered a lot since I've lived in the US from the age of 3, so although it is my first language, my primary one is definitely English. I've taken a lot of Spanish classes, and it comes quite easy to me, but I won't go as far as saying I can speak it

Vietnamese was my first language, but now I speak English as if it was my first.

I can speak English,German,French + Spanish.

Quite good for an 11 year old :P

Can you speak them fluently? AND I MEAN FLUENTLY?

Ojibwe was my first language, though I grew up and became ashamed of the Aboriginal part of me and stopped speaking it so I could be more "white". I only know a couple words in Ojibwe, but I mainly speak English.

The first (and only) language I currently speak is English - but I've been interested in learning Japanese since I was, oh.. 12?
Nearly 22 now and I've learned hiragana and katakana (only reading, though - if you asked me to write them all you'd get is a long "uhhhhhh..."), but every attempt I've made to learn any further just ends in me quitting out of frustration. Heh..

Other than that, I suppose I might eventually learn some Vietnamese.. My Dad is engaged to a Vietnamese woman, and she'll be moving in with us once they can get her over here legally.

My first language is French.

But I am trilingual, I speak also English (duh) and mandarin.
I also am not too bad in Spanish. I am going to Spain for uni anyway, so my Spanish will get better ^_^

As mentioned in another topic ('What fact about you would surprise a stranger?'), my native tongue is Ilonggo, a Filipino 'dialect.' I spoke only Ilonggo until my teachers rooted it out of me, specifically one who, as my mom says, was convinced that I used Ilonggo to curse and make fun of her.

I have taken great effort to relearn: I still have trouble writing in Ilonggo, but I can speak and understand. Besides that, English is the only language I know.
