What is it about a villager that makes you want/not want them?

Is it the way they look? Is it the type of animal they are? Is it their personality? For me it?s the way they look, because I only like having characters that don?t look weird or ugly. (Example: I think wolf link is a good looking character, Boon is an ugly character, and Knox is a weird looking character. I only like characters that aren?t stupid or ugly looking).

It depends on whether or not I have a theme for the town. If I do have a theme, then I select villagers based mostly on their looks and the look of their houses to make sure both match the theme while trying to keep a good balance of all the personalities. If I have no theme or a loose theme, like in my main town, then I'll happily take any villager. I like to cycle through random villagers in my main town to meet as many as possible.

I don't personally consider any villager ugly. There are some unique villagers, but it's usually their quirks that I end up falling in love with, like Hazel's unibrow. And most of the villagers that other people find ugly are the ones I think are the cutest.

the only time i wouldn't like a villager is if they moved in somewhere i didn't want them to/got them by surprise via street pass or from visiting someone else's town :( which has happened numerous times...otherwise most villagers end up growing on me one way or another :)

it’s usually a combination of looks/personality type for me as my town has a bit of a theme, though not as strict as some towns are!

To me, It's all about if they fit my town theme. For instance, I think Tangy is really, really cute, but she really doesn't fit my pink town theme lol.

For me it's just the looks and the town theme. I prefer having more cute villagers. But of course there are a few exceptions, like Fang. Some people would have any villager for their town.

From my point of view, I generally wouldn’t want to have a villager if I had a bad experience with them. On the other hand, I would want to have a villager if they have a unique appearance (e.g. Agent S wearing a helmet). I have NEVER gone for town themes, so I’m basically open to meeting new faces.

For me, it's mostly the looks. I really don't like villagers that are poorly designed like Katt. My mom and I agree that Katt looks very weird and so we avoided having her in our towns. In fact, my mom did have Katt one time in one of her three towns, but she moved her out with an Amiibo card. Sometimes I just don't want a villager in my town if they are ugly, but these days I seem to like having random villagers in my town to keep things fresh. I may even try to get to know them to see if they really are bad as I think, but still, I usually don't keep them for long.

It really is an aesthetic thing for me. Some designs I'm instantly drawn to (basically the more traditionally "cute" villagers, like Molly and Maple) while others have grown on me personality-wise (Jitters moved in from someone's void recently, for example, and I'm surprised at how hilarious and entertaining he's turned out to be). There are, of course, certain animal types that sadly just don't work for me at all - full-grown bears and gorillas come to mind.

There are various factors, but it is mostly aesthetic choices as others have said. I also take personalities into account as well, but aesthetic typically outweighs it. I will try to make the villagers related to my town if I can.

What makes me want a villager is usually how they look or if they look unique. I love when some have extra acceories like June, but I also love the unquie ones like Tia. I also really love color somtimes, like the colors on Frank and how it makes him look like a parrot!

It's half how they look, half their personality type. It's so interesting actually, how much their appearance affects how they come off. Lopez? The sweetest. I adore him; his flirty flamboyance is so charming. . His fellow smug Tex? Same dialog, but he feels like a guy who won't leave me alone at a bar.

For me, it?s my interactions with them. I do like certain villagers because of their looks, but they win me over because of their personality. I tend to not like snooty characters because I think they?re rude, but Ankha has always been nice to me in conversation so I kept her! I had Quillson come in and I though he was hideous and I couldn?t wait for him to move out. He was always sweet to me when we chatted though (he?s a smug character) and he ended up being one of my favorite characters in my town! Kabuki is a cranky boi but he?s sweet to me, I?ve always found him nicer than my other crankies like Octavian.

I never really have any preference that's deterring in anyway as it just never crossed me that way. However I never really was too fond of the Uchi because it feels too close to my own self. Like I'm the chill down to earth one man how could I be bested.

Sentimental value (if i've had them before), I can vibe with any villager unless they moved in front of a pwp or something in which case I hate their guts.

It really can depend! It’s a mix of aesthetic and personality of course... and just a general feel of interactions xD like... ok, Jock villagers. I had figured there were no Jock villagers I liked at all, the personality always felt a bit grating & I just never wanted to keep one permanently... until Bud moved in while I was building up Stardust. Funnily enough, I hadn’t liked any of the lion villagers before either... but for some reason this Jock lion w/neon pink sunglasses won me over- his design is nicely balanced w/a neat accessory, and with his house, he manage to come off as this dorky, adorable surfer nerd I really like having around.

So yeah- it’s a lot of factors that can’t even be fully placed, but a nice design that meshes with the personality really helps.

It’s a mix of how they look and act. Mostly look and type of animal though! :]

I try to give every villager a fair shot but for some it's just impossible. I wouldn't pick any gorilla villagers just because i cannot stan their designs. The interior of a villagers house can be somewhat annoying but it's not too difficult to send them some furniture to fix it up a little bit. Aesthetically, I don't really have a town theme in my main town so anyone who I like I keep even if they're not the most popular ones i.e Kitty and Prince.

I haven't felt wanting specific villagers. Usually I acknowledge whoever I come across, and get attached to some of them. Likely, to so-called unpopular smugs/jocks.
Though, there are few villagers that for God knows why I don't feel very comfortable with. I don't think I would "want" them again. (I'm sorry babies, it's not your fault.. I don't even know why myself.)
