I have spent sooooo much time playing this game since the end of March. More than I could ever even imagine when I first got it.

Yeah there are some things missing and there’s room for improvement, but I have loved escaping to my island whenever I needed a “pick me up” or felt like I needed to relax. Can’t wait to see what the next two years of updates look like.

I do really love the game so I gotta say at least 4 stars, it would easily be 5 for me if the villagers weren’t unbearably repetitive, and if the furniture selection wasn’t so deeply lacking in variety (the latter at least will likely be adjusted in future updates, not so sure about the villagers though).

Animal Crossing New Horizons released on 3/20/20 and since release, I have enjoyed this game and still continue to notice little details that make me extremely happy. What do you guys think now that it's been a little over 6 months since release?
love it! Been playing for about 4 months now, still enjoy it lots.

I still enjoy the game! Even though I tt sometimes but I do enjoy the real time or take it slow also really something to look forward to each day. I also really likes all my villagers and terraforming part a lot. I do agree with comments about buying multiple items in able sister or buy some stuff faster. Only those that’s annoyed me. Mostly I do enjoy the game still!

I'm torn between giving it 5 stars because it's the game I've played the most so far on my Nintendo, or 4 because there's definitely room for improvement. I went with 4.

Like I said, out of 5 or so games I own for the Switch, this is the one I've put in the most hours so far. A big part of that is because it is easy to just put in a few minutes every day, the daily tasks are small and still give you an idea/feeling of 'progress'. There's a lot of great things about the game, there's always something new to discover or do. It's one of those games that you can play really casually, there's no need to grind to progress a storyline, there's no end goal.

I played a tiny bit of New Leaf as well, and I must say I only remember negatives from that game compared to New Horizons. I like that we can now terraform, have more control over where villagers live and when then move out, and I also like that running around doesn't create trails in the grass anymore. I don't miss any items from New Leaf, probably because when I played it, it was so long ago and I didn't play it for very long, so my memories are pretty limited.

I ended up giving the game 4 stars because I like to see some things improved. I'd love it if crafting could be done in bulk, the same for shopping at the Able Sisters. I'm also not very happy with how clothing sometimes ends up being used as furniture, and put on display, I think that's confusing. If I gift clothes I'm assuming my villager will wear them, not display them.

And the main reason to only give it 4 stars is that I am not totally happy with the fact that I had to pay an extra 20 dollars just to be able to fully enjoy the game for a single year. Trading, visiting, gifting, they're all big parts of what makes the game fun for me, and it's just sad that that functionality is mostly behind a paywall if you don't have a gazillion other friends in real life that you can connect with via a local connection. On some level I understand why this may be needed, but on another level I'm still not entirely happy with caving in and paying for it after the free trial, just because online play can be so addictive.

I am a little disappointed. I am a die hard fan of AC and have been playing since I was very young and am very fond of the positive memories I have with it. I remember being able to play ACNL daily for nearly two years after the release, and over the next 5 years consistently on and off. I never got bored of it. The online features were amazing, and lest I mention the soundtrack. These are not sentiments I share with ACNH. I played over 1k hours of ACNL, and around 310 of ACNH. I finished my island about two months in, and the multiplayer features are lackluster enough to keep me from logging on. I am also disappointed in the villager dialogue, I could have a convo with one peppy, go to another and have the same conversation. It makes me quite sad to think about. This game is a higher two star, lower three star rank for me.

I haven't played anywhere near as much as I used to, but I still think this is absolutely the best game in the series. There's plenty of little things I could fault the game for, but I think the game will only get better over time as more content is added. That friendly, cozy vibe that is a big component to why the series is so beloved in the first place is still there, and that's the most important part I think. I gave it 5 stars in the poll because I've had an extremely positive experience with the game, but I'd really rate it 4.5 stars.

I would give it 4 stars . I love the crafting and terraforming. It’s nice being able to choose where buildings and houses are. It’s nice that they update the game and give new things like farming. I would love it more if the villagers asked you to do more for them. I like running errands for them. They a also repeat themselves a lot.
I would love to see storage changed. It would be nice to have the crafting materials stored in the workbench. I hope in the future we can get a place to store flowers, trees and bushes. I would love to change them based on season and not have to sell what I don’t want to use.
I love the clothes in Ables but not having to go in the changing room so much to get all the colors.
crafting in bulk for fish bait would be nice.

Five stars. I consider it the best game in the franchise. I don't think it was "incomplete" at any point. I like the way they have approached it, with seasonal updates, and love the crafting elements it has introduced.

I say this as a Sony fanboy (no Nintendo-bias here) with a 15yr history with the Animal Crossing franchise.

ngl i think it's like a 4.5/5 stars! there's definitely a few shortcoming, bugs and qol improvements to work on but it's such a solid game with MASSIVE improvements from new leaf. love all the features and am so thankful that you don't have to completely restart your town if you want different eyes or play as a different gender- which i'm glad that "style" doesn't seem to have any impact on gameplay (besides how you run) and you're not judged by what you want to wear

I've put quite a lot of time in, so I've definitely gotten my money's worth, which is great. But coming from previous entries in the series, I'd give it a 3/5 stars. There are a lot of things I think they could have done better, and maybe I wasn't paying enough attention during the development phase, but I was taken aback when they announced that they'd be giving us frequent updates, some of which included things that were already in the base game of the other entries. The updates do keep me coming back, though, but I can't help but wonder whether I'd already be playing this long if there had been more included at launch.

It is what it is. I think when all is said and done, NH could be one of the best games in the series, but I'm not very fond of the experimentation Nintendo has done with its content, and I hope they either do it better in the future or just don't do it at all.

4 stars because it's an very enjoyable game, but unfortunately it can't keep my interest up like NL did.

To be honest, I criticised the game a lot when it first released. I felt it could improve a lot and missed so many features that made the game so nostalgic for me. I can safely say now that I’m more than happy with it, I still pop on everyday to talk to my faves and do my dailies, and I absolutely love the little updates they include as well. It’s kept just the right amount of balance for me!

i think it's a pretty good game. it's the only game i've spent so much time playing on my switch. even though i've stopped playing for a few weeks at a time here and there, i always return with a new appreciation.

My feelings on this game keep flip-flopping, honestly. I wouldn't know how to rate it despite spending 500 hours playing. I absolutely despise the trickle of content and status of cut features up in the air, and sometimes it makes me feel like a total sucker for spending money on a system with faulty controllers and a game with current-gen prices but I guess decorating is pretty fun. The thought of items missing while decorating still bothers me. I tried to stay mostly optimistic during the first few months, but why defend something that frustrates me so much?
You know those funny screenshots of Steam reviews where someone has played like a billion hours and still gives a game a thumbs down? I feel like that.
