There's some quality of life stuff that can be improved but I still enjoy it. I'm taking the game a lot more slowly now that I'm not trading like crazy. Playing it for an hour at a time 2-3 times a day is a lot more managable. I'm also finding other IRL stuff to occupy my time so it's not just "ANIMAL CROSSING" on my mind 24/7.

I gave it a 4/5. (Although, I am leaning toward a 4.5/5.)

I‘ve been really enjoying the game and everything Nintendo has been putting out for us. However, like some here have said, a lot of this stuff was already introduced or familiar in ACNL. Along with that, there still needs to be an incorporation of all the furniture from ACNL, as well as some furniture from ACPC, and many NPCs should have made their appearance by now (like Brewster). There still needs to be more skin/hair color options and hair styles. (But these are just the aspects I’d personally like as soon as possible.)

Overall, I’m very satisfied and hoping for at least these additions by the end of the year, if not before the two-year mark. ☺️

I gave it a perfect score simply because of my playing length longer than New Leaf. Surely, it has a lot of flaws like any other game. However, I am optimistic that Nintendo will dish out a lot of updates and make it even better. (I am a fully aware that not all people here aren't a big fan of slow updates being pushed.)

I would rate it four stars! While it is probably my favorite Animal Crossing game in the series, there is still some problems, and features that need to be adressed. First of all, the game is still lacking a lot of content. We still do not have major NPC charcters like Brewster, who add a lot to the Animal Crossing Series. In addition, there are many features that don't make sense and make the playing less enjoyable. An example of this is not allowing your most recent villager to move out, and Nook's Cranny only carrying a certain varitey of furniture. Also, considering New Horizons is based around building your own island, we are still lacking a lot of funiture.

I will also have to say that I am not a fan of the hourly music in New Horizons compared to previous Animal Crossing games, so that is another reason why I give it 4 stars.

Overall, it is a great game, and I would have to say being able to place funiture outside and terraforming are the two new biggest featues in this game that make it so great, but New Horizons still could use a lot more features and updates!

4 stars for me.

It's a great game and I love it, but I do wish there was as much furniture as is in New Leaf and Pocket Camp. I also wish we could customize more things, especially the buildings and player homes. Villager interactions could be better, too.

the fact that it's already been out for 6 months....... I'm shook

overall I'd give it a 4/5. I kinda stopped playing in the last couple weeks (mainly due to the fact that I don't like my island layout but I really don't want to reset, so that's on me not the game) but I'm hoping with the update I'll be inspired to play again.

I would give it 5/5 if they just gave me MORE FURNITURE!!! I'm dyin over here without my green series/rococo series/regal series

4 stars is my solid rating for this game as of right now.

The game play loop works really well - Perhaps almost too well, as often I forget to keep track of how long I play. So much you can do has meaning in some form or another, and there is so much freedom in what you can do that it can exhaust you if you're not careful. Being able to craft something and place it outdoors is so liberating in town design, yet also another burden to maintain if you want to make it work. Then there's terraforming... It requires much responsibility to use it in a way that makes the game fun rather than stressful.

The main issues I have are follows:

-They ruined the furniture selection by requiring multiplayer to get the items, all just to tie in an online membership. The Nookling shop feels so gutted when it only sells only one variant of each furniture.

-They enforced permanence on very crucial areas. I wish we could terraform the beaches, move the river mouths, change the airport color, and perhaps even switch the town fruit/flower. Giving invitations to reset are huge blemishes in a game with so many customization options.

-The hourly music lacks contrast between the tunes. Most of the hours sound too much like the start screen music, instead being good on their own right.

-Shovels Breaking. They should have made a permanent option for the shovel, as it's even more important for landscaping than the terraforming tools.

There are other little issues I have, like the muted sound on stepping on custom design paths, the flowers spawning out of control, and the paths made having an unnatural line and curve. But overall, it's so much fun to play that I haven't even skipped a day since the game came out!

Seeing as I've played this game more than 2 times longer than Breath of the Wild, and that's a 5 star game, I have no other option but to give it 5 stars.

I love this game so much, and honestly even though I see all the things people miss from other games (nh is my first ac game) and I know I would like those things, I would probably happily play for another who knows how many thousands of hours without feeling bored even if they added nothing else ever. The only thing I personally really want (though I would love people I’ve ‘met’ on here to get all their wishes for furniture etc) is more villagers in my town. If I could basically substitute residents for villagers I’d be probably too happy with the game and disengage from reality entirely. Haha.

seriously, this is not meant to be a criticism or discouragement of people who want more, I just...I love this game so much and it is ridiculous.

And I also love that the game led me to this forum, which has also been a great source of fun and comfort in a difficult year. (Okay, will stop with the sappy-ness now)🥰

Still really enjoying the game. I have only taken two weeks off in the middle of the summer, but besides that... I have been playing the game every day since release, and I have been playing it a lot of hours each day. xD

I am still enjoying seeing each of my villagers, and talking to them, but then again I think that is only because I don't really think about what I have heard them say before, and I think of them more as real friends to me. Again I don't give them gifts for the sole purpose of getting a picture... The only times I give them gifts is when I find something I think they would REALLY like.

I am looking forward to the October update, even though I have limitations I have to work with in regards to it... like for example my "pumpkin patch" isn't going to be more than six open spaces, because I recreated the fence PWP from New Leaf, and my island is going to be New Leaf themed for a while (still working on it though).

Anyways this game is either a 4.7 out of 5 stars... or a solid 5 star game to me. I really really REALLY enjoy it so far, and I cannot get enough of the game even now.

P.S. I have played every other Animal Crossing game before, and I have been an Animal Crossing fan since the early days of Animal Crossing: Wild World, so I do know what they removed, and how much has changed with each new game... But I usually try to not focus on what we do not have... instead I try to enjoy each new installment as its own thing, and if they decide to not bring back a feature then so what...

For example, if they do not bring back Brewster, then yes I will miss him, but at the same time I won't exactly be pissed or too upset. I will just say, "oh well... he wasn't in this installment, but that isn't the end of the world for me... I can dream that they will bring him back in the next installment."

So at the end of the day each game is its own thing to me... I just remember the older games fondly, and try to not let those nostalgic memories cloud my judgement of this game or future releases.

As much as I've tried to refrain from whining, I gotta admit I thought we might be at least a little farther along by now. I still very much enjoy playing and finding new things to change about how my island is decorated, having those goals to work toward at my own pace, and of course current circumstances with the pandemic make progress slower for everyone... guess I wasn't seeing it being this slow.

It's fine, though - it's more of an observation than a grievance for me right now. It's absolutely still playable and a lot of fun. It doesn't affect me in the grander scheme of things. Now if a full year goes by, and Brewster and/or improved crafting table dialogue haven't shown up by then, that might be a little sus. But it's not worth my energy to predict the worst. Would much rather relax and enjoy the current as it comes along.

Hm. I'd say that part of the reason I got tired of NH so quickly was because we were all in quarantine and I played non-stop for a quite a while at release. I'd say that the game is probably 4 stars but I'm hopeful that with future updates, the game will continue to improve and get better. I do think that there are some things that aren't great in this game, such as villager dialogue and some simple, QoL updates that seem obvious and haven't been implemented. It's a good game but I'd say that New Leaf was definitely better. I'm hoping that we keep seeing more and more good updates to the game.

They ruined the furniture selection by requiring multiplayer to get the items, all just to tie in an online membership. The Nookling shop feels so gutted when it only sells only one variant of each furniture.

I've been trying to be patient with getting more unique furniture items, but this has been bothering me more lately. It's exhausting seeing only the same items and colorways in my Nookling shop over and over again. I was determined not to do online trading, but I can't grind for balloons/tree shakes all the time, and I still get dupes doing that! In a game so focused on customization, why can't we customize all furniture for all options? Or, unlock all colorways in the catalog once you obtain one variation.

Man, I love this game. It brought me closer to the community that I love and enjoy being a part of, and that just makes me so happy. I love doing little tasks and playing with my friends on occasion! I haven't been on in quite a bit because of my jam-packed schedule, but I try my best to fit it in among the chaos!! I gave it a 4-star rating because I think there is still so much to improve. I'm so excited for the fall update though, that has been a really nice thing to look forward to. I think that village dialogue was more interactive and not as repetitive. I could talk to 3 different villagers and they would all be talking about food, which drives me a bit nuts. I also love that I can be creative and that I found my little art niche, and that I can create patterns that people like and enjoy (that's crazy to me, sorry to my commissions who are probably mad at my busyness). Overall, there's a lot more to look forward to and it still feels a bit empty, but that's ok! We still have the future ahead of us.

I gave a four star. I really do love the game, but I feel like they messed up not giving us island games, where we earn points to get exclusive items. This kept me busy in New Leaf. Gave me something to work for.

I also think they should give us an option to upgrade the three side rooms. I hate how small they are, and this would also give me something to work for.

not giving us gifts for having a certain amount of bells in the bank was also a mistake. I have no desire to save, this giving me no reason to hunt bugs or fish, unless they are new for that month.

I could however write a huge list of what I love about New Horizons, and I do look forward to each new update.

I'd say anywhere between 3 or 4 stars. It's kept my interest longer than New Leaf for reasons I can see others not liking it, which would be crafting and learning new recipes, terraforming, and finding unique ways to incorporate furniture into your outside decorating, though I've been playing it less often than when I began.

I completely understand why someone wouldn't like this game and many have made great and valid points, like how there aren't many furniture to work with, how online is less interactive than New Leaf, despite being a payed feature now, how updates are slow not enough is introduced, how it feels incomplete, etc.

I don't get how I still like the game, despite all of these points, but I do. Still playing ACNH and it hasn't killed my love for the franchise, though it has made me reconsider buying it early.

Is it my favorite AC? Not by a long shot, but still enjoy it for the crafting, decorating and filling up my catalog.

damn,, i can’t believe it’s been so long, already. it feels like just yesterday i was bouncing off the walls, eagerly waiting for my copy to get delivered >_<

currently, i think this game currently sits at 4/5 stars for me; there are so many things i love about this adaption, from being able to place furniture outside to the villager photo glow ups. new horizons is the reason i came back to tbt after a 2+ years hiatus and i’m forever grateful for that as i’ve made so many wonderful friends here and i love trading with people again but at the same time,, i’m honestly really bored with the game rn.

maybe it’s the pandemic + the unusual amount of free time that has led to me feeling so burnt out but i know i’m not the only one. i still adore the game but my daily routine has been reduced to searching for the visiting npc, checking out the shops only to find stuff that i already have and pester my villagers with fruit in hopes of getting their photo. there really just,, isn’t anything to do, really, and i’m quite bored of the daily repetitive tasks.

on top of that, there really is quite a bit still missing from the game; i know we’ve heard this a million times and there’s been hundreds of threads and complaints about this topic but excluding npc absences, the two main things that i’m yearning for are multiplayer activities and more furniture variety. animal crossing has always been a game that’s a blast to play with your friends but other than trading, there’s really nothing to do with other people due to the absence of mini games + there not really being any events so far that would work with multiplayer. i’m not going to dive into the furniture argument since well,, we all know what i’ll say so i’ll leave it at this; ignoring the lack of food items, we also don’t have many actual ‘sets’; sure, we have the wooden-block stuff, the ironwood stuff, etc but compared to previous games, we have way less furniture sets which i think were replaced by sets with different colour variations rather than just new sets in general, if that makes sense. i, personally, am making due but it’s not very sexy when i try to conjure room/island decoration ideas only to remember that half of the items i had hoped to use were left behind in new leaf 🥴

that being said, new horizons is still a solid 4/5 stars for me despite the negatives, especially as i’m holding out hope that everything will be added back in over time and that the game will look a lot more complete by this time next year c’:
