In high school I let one of my friends borrow some video games from me and I never got them back. For the most part I was like whatever but one of them was Mario party 4 for GameCube and I?m still bitter about that
My friend borrowed a CD I received as a birthday gift and promised to give it back the next day.
Instead he lent it to someone else, who lent it to someone else, who... long story short no one knows who has it anymore and I don't expect to ever see it again.
there's this one time i remember so vividly. I lent one of my classmates my favourite mechanical pencil back in 5th grade. This is sorta my fault but at the end of the day I completely forgot that I lent it to her and I got mad at myself that I "lost" my pencil. A few days later I see that same friend writing with a pencil that looked EXACTLY like the one I lent her. I ask her about it and she says she got it as a gift. The end.
Whew rant over. But I still think about that pencil to this day
I generally don't let anyone borrow anything that I care about. If I do let someone borrow something, I go into the situation expecting not to get it back, so at that point it's really a gift.
What I do get upset about is people stealing my pens at work. I have a nice collection of cute pens displayed in a holder on my desk (Hello Kitty, Eeyore, etc.) People will come by and 'borrow' these pens even though there are plenty of regular pens in the supply cabinets. So far, I've always tracked them down and gotten them back. The person usually says something like they were on the way to a meeting and forgot their pen, so they grabbed one of mine and forgot they had it. I'm sorry, but I'm the only one in my area with pens like this. I don't see how anyone could not realize that it's not theirs.
Nothing of importance really. I only lend stuff to close friends who I know will give it back to me or I can easily ask for it back and they wouldn't care.
I’m sure there are several things people have never returned to me, but I’ve never been bothered enough to remember lol. I’ve only ever lent people little things.
However I DO remember this funny incident where a friend in high school would ask for a pencil every single day. It was funny because every time I gave her one, she would end up playing on her phone or sleeping the whole class and wouldn’t ever use the pencil she asked for. At the end of class she would pack up and forget to give the pencil back. I started bringing extra pencils to school just for her lol even though I was well aware she wouldn’t do any work x)
I had a weird guy from work borrow some manga from me, but he ended up being suuuper creepy, so I never even asked for them back and he ended up getting fired soon thereafter (never heard from him again, luckily lol)
Nothing comes to mind but my mini paint roller from my sister (but I haven't remembered to actually ask for it back yet, it's been months whoops so I'm hoping she didn't lose it by now)
And my copy of 'the dead zone' to my other sister. She always borrows my books, normally she gives them back but this one was in her possession for years, it even changed houses with her. Then one day I found it in the other sister's (the one w/ my roller) house and she saw me looking at it and was like "do u wanna borrow that?" like damn.. this was mine once... a long time ago.... . when I was a young man
